Dollar General Distribution Center - Blair
They talked about this on Grow Omaha a couple weeks ago. Fantastic get for Blair. I was kind of surprised it landed there. Thought they'd want a location that's right on the interstate.

Not to throw shade at Amazon's recently announced distribution center, I think this is a bigger deal in terms of the Metro 'winning'. According to the OWH article, this distribution center will serve 1500 DG stores across the Midwest. This is a project that could have gone outside the Metro or even the State, but Blair was able to land it. Congrats to them!Greg S wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 10:32 am They talked about this on Grow Omaha a couple weeks ago. Fantastic get for Blair. I was kind of surprised it landed there. I agree. I don't think we really beat out anyone for the Amazon deal as I think most to all cities of our size will get at least one of the Amazon DC's like we got in Sarpy.ita wrote: Tue Nov 10, 2020 2:29 pmNot to throw shade at Amazon's recently announced distribution center, I think this is a bigger deal in terms of the Metro 'winning'. This was such a huge win for Blair.BobbiDon wrote: Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:16 am I drove by the 800k sf Dollar General warehouse. The city also extended 10th Street to connect directly to highway 75, just on the south edge of town.

I am assuming based on the final destination that highway 75 won't be the only way these trucks head out of town. It will be a lot of new traffic. Highway 30 gets a ton of truck traffic already. Hopefully not too much or any has to go through Blair's downtown, already too much truck traffic there already.

Dollar General hiring for positions at Blair distribution center
Dollar General is hiring for management and warehouse employees for its future distribution center in Blair.
The company’s announcement this week marks the latest development for the $85 million distribution center first announced in November 2020. Since then, Dollar General expanded the center’s footprint.
In an email, Blair City Administrator Rodney Storm said city officials understand that Dollar General plans to have the facility fully operational by the first quarter of 2023. When the center operates at full capacity, it will employ 400 people and support more than 1,500 stores in the Midwest.

The bypass they're building is going from Walmart on 30th directly to the Dollar General 10th St exit.Greg S wrote: Tue Sep 06, 2022 10:55 amBobbiDon wrote: Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:16 am I drove by the 800k sf Dollar General warehouse.
