87th and Dodge - Tidal Wave Car Wash
In this past weekend's Grow Omaha show, someone (I think Jeff) mentioned about a planned car wash in front of the Holiday Inn Express at 87th and Dodge. I thought he was mistaken, but I drove by today and there is a sign saying that the site adjacent to Dodge in front of the hotel is a future site for a car wash. Not trying to ruffle feathers, but that should not be a site for a car wash. Has this gone through the city approvals? I haven't seen anything on the planning agendas, but maybe I missed it.

The sign has been up for a while. It has not been to the planning board in 2021 or 2020.
We had a carwash discussion today at work. The amount of carwash chains in town right now is crazy. Club, Tidal, Rocket, and Tommy's are building everywhere.

Someone on Twitter I follow was eating lunch at a place next to a car wash with a subscription program, and noticed that there wasn't a dirty car in line.
They walked over and asked an employee, and apparently people will do things like go through 2-3 times a day, and get their clean car washed after driving on a dry gravel road "just to make sure."

That's the only way to justify spending $40+ on half-decent automatic car washes every month.

Once upon a time, a car wash was free if you bought more than 10 gallons of gas at Amoco. Some of these washes today are pretty pricey.Brad wrote: Tue Jun 22, 2021 4:19 pm The sign has been up for a while. It has not been to the planning board in 2021 or 2020.

But those types of carwashes were usually the type with spinning plastic brushes that leave scratches on your paint. Still better than leaving salt-encrusted grime on your car, but not much.bbinks wrote: Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:12 amOnce upon a time, a car wash was free if you bought more than 10 gallons of gas at Amoco.
