Family brings farm life, ice cream to West Point with LOCAL shop
WEST POINT, Neb. (KOLN) - A vibrant mural wraps around the back of a brick building in West Point. Splattered across it are slightly melting ice cream cones, farm fresh eggs, dripping honeycomb and a humming bird sipping from giant flowers. The mural is just a taste of the farm life offered by LOCAL, a shop started by Greg and Aliza Brunsing.
“The farm shop was just a dream I’ve had for the last few years,” Aliza said. “I was raised in the city and just did not realize all the work that went into producing food and the process that went from getting it from the farm to people’s plates.” Aliza gained a better understanding of agriculture after marrying Greg and moving to his farm in West Point. Six kids later, they raise hogs, chickens, goats and emus. Aliza started sharing her experiences with her family and friends on social media. In the meantime, she took notice of other creators in her community.
