Denny's Closing 10% of its Locations

Post by ChadJK »

Denny’s is closing 150 restaurants

I didn't see a list of specifically which locations are on the chopping block.

They finally dumped a bunch of money in to the Omaha location for the first time in 100 years, I'd laugh if they close it.

Right - and it took a fire to get them to even do so... half the "remodel" was probably covered by insurance payments. Wonder how many of their locations have had "fires"?

I need to go back and try the remodeled one on 84th. When done right, I like Denny's for breakfast.

They've also trimmed their menu. The dinner entrées like steak and salmon are gone. It's just breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and a few deep fried things. I suppose that makes sense. Who's going to Denny's for a steak? Though, once upon a time they had Spaghetti and Meatballs and my daughter actually liked it. Spaghetti at Denny's just blows my mind. lol

It's not a bad place for a diner-style breakfast. Their burgers can be pretty good too. It's the service that's usually horrible. Also, we like to joke about how small everything on their Grand Slam has gotten. You probably buy Grade A Large Eggs. That's most people's go-to. So, then, one wonders who buys the Grade A Small Eggs? Denny's must. They have the smallest eggs, sausage links, and toast slices in the businesses. It's quite comical. It's like eating miniaturized food.

I can’t recall the last time I ate at a Denny’s. Probably about 1990.

The last time I "tried" to eat at a Denny's was not long after they became the restaurant at the Flying J. It had to be over 10 years ago because I went there with our oldest daughter when he was still in high school before we went to some event. I went in and got seated, and that was about it I Could time with a calendar how long it took to get anyone to come to the table and then even longer to even consider an order. The help was there, it was not busy and no one cared. I had heard of this issue before I went, but I said I would try it. We ended up walking out. I wonder if we would have been served by now if we had stayed. We moved up the food chain and went to McDonald's, if I remember correctly.

Haven’t ate at a Dennys since the 80’s. Thought they had a decent breakfast back then.

Was driving by the Denny’s on 84th today, so we decided to stop by. I had always liked the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, and it tasted as I remembered. However, it certainly didn’t previously cost over sixteen dollars!

Experience was fine, though I don’t think we’d go very often.

Drove by the Dennys at 84th and I-80 today around 11am, it looked pretty crowded.

The cost is crazy now, but I agree.. One of the best breakfasts on their menu..

I might just hit it up this Saturday morning. It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten at Denny’s…

It’s open 24 hrs, probably not a whole lot of 24 hr restaurants in Omaha these days. Given its location so close to I-80 I would think it should do well. Best of luck to the place.
