Starbucks (SEC 96th & L St)

If this was covered under another post, I apologize for the redundancy. On my lunch break today I noticed there's a small building going up west of the Romeo's on 96th & L (SE Corner). Looks like it will probably have a drive thru... but not the same design as Starbucks or Scooters that I'm familiar with.

I'd say Abelardo's but I don't think even with their crazy expansion going on that they'd locate in the same parking lot as Romeo's.

Any idea what this is? Has a somewhat unique curved entrance or row of windows along the south side underneath a canopy.

Really? Wonder if it's some new design/style, because it doesn't look like their other recent stores... And I don't think it will look like what they show in the pic, either. That design resembles the one further west on L up by Target around 130th...

I'm not an architect so maybe I'm way off base.

Guess I'd rather see those pop over a Rocket/Tommy's car wash or a Mega Saver. Thankfully I knew it couldn't be any of those.

I was curious what the hangup was on this location. It's not like Starbucks are locally owned and operated, waiting on a franchisee to fund the project. I wonder what the delay was... permits, issues with the land, etc?

I think it's going to turn that corner into a mess... but I am interested in seeing how this store looks once finished. It doesn't look like any other Starbucks in town that I've seen. Even the one in Gretna at 192nd & 370 is their typical old format or design and it's not open for business.

The biggest different I noticed is that it has a screening wall hiding the drive through window. I'm guessing there was a requirement for that since it faces the highway.
