I can confirm that they have started dirt work here. It has been in the works for awhile, so good to see this is moving forward.Bellevue University recently finalized a deal with the city of Bellevue to purchase land just south of Offutt Air Force Base that was once home to the World Baseball Village.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held today as work has already begun on modernizing and updating the fields for use by the Bruin baseball and softball teams.
The University will also develop the adjacent 62 acres with ambitious plans that include collegiate-level soccer fields, a football field, restroom facilities, and an outdoor shooting range for use by the Bellevue Police Department. There are hopes that some home games could start being played there as soon as Fall 2025.
Currently, Bruin baseball, softball, and soccer host home games on various fields around South Omaha and Bellevue. The softball team holds home games at Roy Smith Field in South Omaha at 2098 O Street. The baseball home games are nearby at John Stella Field in Brown Park, 5441 South 18th St. The men’s and women’s soccer teams host home games at the Bellevue Soccer Club Complex in Twin Creek, 11320 South 42nd Street.

Re: Bellevue World Baseball Village
I wonder what happened to the bonds that Bellevue was on the hook for after Baseball Village flamed out?

I am sure the city had to eat those costs. I think I read that they tried to recoup them from the previous owner but were unsuccessful.

This development and how it crashed is what leads to some questions on if Bellevue taxpayers will eventually have to step in for the water park.

While I hope the water park is a smashing success, I have my doubts. Currently working on my exit plan from Bellevue before the taxpayers are stuck footing the bill.

I know that Bellevue has made some not-so-good business decisions in the past, but I will argue that their tax rate is lower than most communities in the Omaha metro.
