Gordmans to relocate in Papillion from La Vista..

La Vista's loss, is Shadow Lake Town Center's gain..

'Gordmans Inc., an Omaha-based apparel and home décor retailer, will relocate its La Vista store to the new Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion early next year.

The La Vista store, at 8100 S. 84th St. in Brentwood Square, will operate until shortly before the new 800,000-square-foot shopping center opens in March , according to a press release.

Gordmans' La Vista store opened in July 1980.

The retailer will build a 50,000-square-foot store in Shadow Lake Towne Center currently under construction at Nebraska Highway 370 and 72nd Street, the release said.'..

I live a few blocks from Brentwood Plaza. This is one of the few stores open late and has streams of people coming and going at all times here. First Wal-Mart goes to Papillion, now Gordman's. I don't know if the 84th & Giles market area can handle too many more blows.

Eh, I bet some other things will come along. There's approximately 1 bajillion homes being built within 3 miles to the west of this intersection, surely they'll bring traffic with them. This makes me think of the strip malls along Center street, most notably Montclair, that have been dealt many blows in the last decade and a half only to recoil with something equal to or greater than what had moved away. Brentwood and....whatever the strip mall Wal-Mart is in need a make over. That and the bajillion residents moving in along Giles would surely make these shopping centers hopping again.

The problem with Giles is besides everything around brentwood square, is that they have:
1. Valverde -- just built at 96th and Giles
2. Mayfair -- not even started 96 and Giles
3. Portal Plaza -- not even started at 108 and Giles
4. Portal Plaza South -- not even started at 108 and Giles
5. There is a commercial property just north of Portal Plaza -- not even started
6. Shopps on Giles -- not even started at 114 and Giles
7. Southport East -- 120 and Giles
8. Southport West -- 120 and Giles

I actually like this Gordman's better than the one up by me on N 90th. Although I don't get in there often - Shadow Lake might be a little too far south for me to venture.

I believe Gordmans is now leasing the former thrift shop space between Planet Fitness and Family Dollar, just north of the Nuestra Familia on south 36th, and will be making a $285k facade renovation.

Talk about coming full circle. I remember when it was a Richman Gordman, then 1/2 Price Store.
