New Freeway Studied As Growth Explodes
2006 Record Year For Development, Chamber Says

KETV wrote:The Nebraska Department of Roads and MAPA are studying traffic and development patterns to determine whether some sort of interstate loop is needed. The studies could take 18 months to complete.

The road study comes, in part, as a response to record development in the Omaha area in 2006, according to Chamber of Commerce figures. On Thursday, developers and city leaders announced a new project called Coventry that will be a mixed-use development that will stretch from 204th to 216th streets and between Q and Harrison streets. Coventry will feature residential, retail and corporate space.

"Omaha's on a roll, and we need to keep it going," said Chamber of Commerce President David Brown. Brown said 2006 saw 308 announcements of development projects in the metro that represent almost 11,000 new jobs and more than $2 billion in capital investment.

I believe that all Brad is suggesting is that since this KETV article discusses two distinct items (Record Development and A New Interstate Loop) that discussion on the Record development should be posted on this thread but discussion on the Interstate Loop should occur on a thread that already exists: Entertaining the thought of a south/west & south bypass

Anecdote: so I drove my car last night for the first time in a while. I went from 38th st to 120th on Dodge. And let me tell you, there was some heavy, major-mertopolitan-esque traffic. I hadn't seen traffic like that since I was in San Francisco.

^ Don't know exactly what you experienced, but traffic during Christmas shopping season always seems about 275% of normal to me. That might be part of it.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.
