I wanted to add this post to a thread we already had going since it is STUPID to start new threads on stuff we have already discussed, but some people could not control their selves and it was locked.
For several years Westside Church had a steeple and sign that said future hime of Westside church on 174th and Maple. As you can see by my picture below, it mush have changed its plans.
Westside Church http://www.westsidechurchomaha.org/ one of Omaha's most heavily attended places of worship, plans to build a campus on 108 acres at 192nd Street and West Maple Road, just east of Elkhorn.
Gone is the church's intention to move from its current eight-acre spot at 150th Street and West Dodge Road to the vicinity of 174th Street and West Maple Road. The church has a promotional steeple at the latter location and a sign referring to it as the future site of Westside Church.
The Rev. Curt Dodd said this week, however, that his church needed more space than the 48 acres at 174th Street and West Maple Road.
Westside will pay off its debt on the land southeast of 192nd Street and West Maple Road within the next 12 to 18 months, Dodd said. Then it will eventually move in phases from its current location to the new one. The land was acquired for $5.2 million.
The development continues a trend for large metro-area churches to acquire land on Omaha's western edge, where subdivisions are sprouting and growth is booming.
