Tivoli Roundabout

At 175'th and Arbor, just northeast of the new Tovoli, a nice American style interection has been destroyed and replaced with a roundabout.

Directions on how to navigate the new bits of concrete is clearly displayed with a set of new signs:

I LOVE a good roundabout intersection! Too bad they aren't used more often around these parts, they are great for keeping speeds down in heavily travelled areas.

I like this single lane one better than the two lane roundabout a little further east... it's pretty hard to screw up on this one. On the two-lane roundabout however... you'll frequently find people not yielding or moving across the lanes as they speed around without regard for others entering. I live in the immediate vicinity... and am using this 2-lane roundabout just about every day.

Roundabouts are a great way to keep speeds down without haltingtraffic flow. THere are various styles, lanes and merging patterns at the roundabouts here in DC. I am glad to see that so many areas across the country are starting to incorporate roundabouts into their road networks.
