2019 Bald Eagle Thread

Post by Brad »

Unbelievable, I’m at Zorinsky Lake right now and there are 8 to 10 bald eagles flying around the open water here!

Puckhead tipped me off to these at the UNO hockey game Saturday. I would never have guest there would be bald eagles at zorinsky…

Total from today:
Lake Zorinsky = 8-10
Wehrspann Lake = 0, but the sign says the nest is active.
Lake Manawa = 4, possibly 6
Mormon Bridge = 1
NP Dodge Park = 0

Here are a few of the eagles from Lake Zorisky today:

At noon today there was an Adult Bald Eagle flying in the Old Mill area along the Papio Creek! I have seen them fly over this part of town before, but usually really high up. This guy was down low, looked like he was actively hunting!

I didn't get close enough to see, but it appeared there were 2 or 3 bald eagles south of Fontanel Forest above the Missouri River on Saturday.

Also saw one a few weeks ago near 114th and Pacific Street.

We saw one near there last year. They must like the Palio during winter. Lots of ducks and geese to hunt.

There were around a dozen at Manawa this weekend. Then last night looking for a place to shoot sunset, I saw 4 on the Iowa side of the river West of I29, North of I680.
