University of Nebraska President Ted Carter to become next leader of Ohio State
Chris Dunker
University of Nebraska President Ted Carter will be named the next president of Ohio State University, the Lincoln Journal Star has confirmed.

The Ohio State Board of Trustees is holding a meeting at 1 p.m. at which it is expected to vote on the appointment of Carter, who would replace Krista Johnson, who stepped down in May after two years.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that a press conference and question-and-answer session are expected to follow the meeting.

Carter, a former naval aviator who was superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy for five years, was named NU's eighth president in fall 2019 following a national search.

Well, it looks like Ted Carter's time at Ohio St has come to an abrupt end.

Why do people in this high level , very public roles think they are immune

The Ohio State University will soon be under new leadership.

Announced by the school Monday, the Ohio State University Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of university president Walter “Ted” Carter Jr.

According to the school, Carter recently disclosed that he had an "inappropriate relationship," with someone seeking public resources to support her personal business and offered to resign.

“For personal reasons, I have made the difficult decision to resign from my role as president of The Ohio State University," Carter said in a statement from the university. "I disclosed to the board of trustees that I made a mistake in allowing inappropriate access to Ohio State leadership."

Carter was announced as OSU's 17th president in August of 2023, and his tenure began on Jan. 2024.

Ohio State's trustee board says they are appreciative of "the president's contributions to the university" over his tenure. The school says it will share information about the transition in "the coming days."

“Lynda and I leave Ohio State with gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful community," Carter's statement concludes. "It has been an honor to serve as this university’s 17th president, and we wish the university ongoing success.”

Carter led the University of Nebraska system from January 2020 to August 2023.
