Boy did that bring back memories.

My first thought when I saw it today was how interesting it is that in all likelihood eomahaforums.com will outlive omaha.com. I'd say definitely that it will outlive the printed paper.

Another was how much fun eomaha.com was in those days. Anticipation of the arena/convention center & laughing at the owh comments section. in those days nobody ever heard of European Village and now look at it.

I understand the underlying reasoning for the letter and threat but I can't help but laugh at the arrogance of it all.

One of the other points they were upset about, which I rectified and wasn't mentioned in the story.. was that I was dynamically including their own story headlines on my site with links to their story pages. Subsequently driving traffic to their site.. which today would be considered a good thing.

Archive.org also documents.. I was live with my 'look/feel' before they had updated theirs. It was how news portal sites looked at the time, nothing OWH some how invented and I was now copying.

Anyway, they backed off after the news story aired.. undoubtedly realizing 'Omaha' isn't the same thing as 'Coke'.
