Top 150 - Best and Worst Run Cities of 2023

Post by Renovator2559 »

Congrats to Lincoln Nebraska for spot 6, Omaha could do better but not too shabby compared to the cities above Omaha which are mostly suburb dominant southern TX and FL cities, as well as southern cities.

While the typical low performing city suspects are at the bottom.

Lincoln, NE 6
Wichita, KS 15
Topeka, KS 39
Colorado Springs, CO 49
Omaha, NE 64
Des Moines, IA 73
Kansas City, MO 102
Kansas City, KS 139

These “best of” lists from places like Wallet Hub are not ones that I take too seriously..

That said, it’s fairly interesting…

That's why considering multiple sources is best, in a way these rankings echo those of US News best places to live for 2023.

I won’t lose any sleep over a lower ranking..nor would I turn cartwheels if Omaha was highly rated either..

It’s just another “best of” list. Honestly, they're a dime a dozen…

Of course it's a dime in a dozen. Comparing multiple dime in a dozen sources as well as comparing over time, allows for obtaining a rough idea in how Omaha is doing.

If Omaha was ranked one of the lowest, especially if multiple sources suggest, that would be concerning as the cities ranked very low are currently experiencing social issues, drugs, crime, instability, population exodus.

Stats are not the end or be all, but they do provide some feedback in areas that we can improve, tweak or adjust.

Overall, the trends show Omaha going, on a favorable path and we need to continue to keep that momentum going.

We really don’t need a survey to tell us how Omaha’s doing..

We can see this with our very eyes; and stay informed through outlets such as Grow Omaha and this forum..

Admittedly though, these “best of” lists are fun to read on occasion...

Yes, I agree with that, it's fun to see these stats. Grow Omaha does a pretty good job in reporting, l missed Jeff's voice when he was out a few weeks ago, I appreciate what both of the guys do; they are fine gentlemen that want the best for Omaha. Sometimes I come across information in Grow Omaha first and sometimes I come across information on the Omaha forums first.

Other sources are secondary, as most of those mediums are a top down approach with minimal discussion and it's easy to lose track of happenings.

Nampa is just a suburb of one the fastest growing cities in the country. This is really only looking at city budgets and nothing else.

It's a suburb of a fast-growing city, ergo it will be getting the benefits of new residents, income tax, property tax, eg, but before the infrastructural stressors of rapid population growth have set in.
