Schramm Park (21502 West Highway 31)

I saw on photos on Schramm Park State Recreation Area FB page where the old ponds that were tucked back in the hill were completely redone. I hadn't heard anything about it so I did some digging and found this article:
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wrote:A $9 million Venture Parks public-private project at Schramm Park State Recreation Area is scheduled for completion later this year. The Treehouse Classroom and Interpretive Stream project will be a space for education programming and field trips.

The Interpretive Stream project is a renovation of the former spring-fed “Canyon Ponds” and corresponding boardwalk. The renovation includes rebuilding the ponds, the dams between ponds, an interpretive stream area, stabilizing the banks, and rebuilding the boardwalk to make it ADA accessible.

Also, a new shelter was installed at a cost of more than $40,000.
I see they are also removing the invasive red cedar trees. There's a lot of land down there really taken over by the red cedar. Good to see they are clearing some out and restoring the native oak woodlands.

It has been a while since I last visited Schramm. Sounds like it is definitely time to go check it out! Thanks for the update.

The overgrowth of Red Cedar in Nebraska is insane. Are they actively planting new Oaks?
