Please include me in your plans for the First National Tower. This newbie wants to go. I am looking forward to whatever else we come up with for the agenda. As far as the lunch component of the agenda, I think it would be neat if we could find a place that is sort of an unknown diamond to a lot of people.

During the early 80s was the last time I work downtown. (Yes I miss it.) During those few years I had to opportunity to work there, I was amazed at all the restaurants and cafes that were tucked into various buildings that up until that time I didn't know about. Maybe a lot of these places are not open for business on Saturday. But if those of you who still work in or frequent downtown know of some of these "gems", please tell us your favorites. Even if it doesn't work out for our May 1 get together, it would be nice to know some of these places so we can patronize them on other opportunities.

Yo, count me in again.

I couldn't pass up the chance to chat with you clowns again!

Can't wait to see all the new construction in town. It's actually been since last May's meet since I've been back to Omaha.

Aw for crying out loud... Murphy's Law sure rears its ugly head everywhere.

The tour guide just emailed me saying she can't give the tour now... because her supervisor said doing a weekend tour would set a precedent which couldn't be maintained.

So... the day/time... everything is still wide open. I'll keep looking. We do have some time.

I think May 1st still sounds great. I'm sure there are tour guides who would do a weekend gig. If not, heck, we can just make our own tour. Most of us know enough about everything to talk our mouths off:).

I'm still brainstorming about other things we can do!!:)

I am open to just about any date but I still like May 1st too. Remember what got this idea started is the fact that this is the Saturday that Berkshire is downtown and thus things should be bustling.

Jeff-

I'm pretty much open...except May 8-18th...when I will be hosting an impromptu Omaha forum meet in DC

I just came back to DC from Omaha last week. Spent some time with Aaron who as ususal is a great host...sorry I didn't have time to see you...major family committments!

I've got some frequent flyer miles burning a hole in my pocket on Midwest Airlines...so let me know at least 2 weeks ahead of the date. Can't wait to see you and Ryan (maybe Eric) and as always...would love to meet some of these other guys (and gals) as well.

I think this May 1st date is going to work out for nearly everyone. Hopefully the weather will be as nice as it was last year!

Jeff, glad to see this thread is started. I was going to start it after spring break, but here it is!

Unfortunately, I have an important ProRail Nebraska meeting in Lincoln on May 1. However, I could come down to Omaha by 4:30-5:00 PM, if stuff is still going on...

Anytime after Noon works best for me but I can probably make about anything work on this date.

I suggest we take a building tour or two in the afternoon (contingent upon Jeff's and others luck on arranging that for us) in addition to a couple walks in downtown and/or midtown, then hit up dinner in the Old Market, perhaps at Spaghetti Works. And after that, we could walk off our food a little by strolling around the Heartland of America Park. Those are my intitial thoughts - any other ideas?

Also, I think it would be a good idea to start a new thread and post the forum meet news at the Midlands forum at Skyscraperpage. I would be willing to do this, unless anyone else would like to.

That sounds like a good plan Eric.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any success is landing any tours (if we were doing this on a weekday... I have all sorts of possibilities). Perhaps Eric has keys to the Burlington Station. :)

I'll try some more tomorrow.

So what's the word? With only two days until the forum meet, we need to come up with some events fast. Jeff, let me know if you want to talk together in detail (like over the phone) to drum up some ideas and set some times and places.

I apologize for dropping the ball on this.

I've been swamped with work which has left me without time to even check up on the website ... and the family front won't allow me to even do anything tomorrow, with my son's (overriding) birthday party... and another son's baseball game.

Sorry this has to take a back seat... especially when I personally made the proposal such a long time ago.

In all honesty... I think I'm going to need someone else step up and take control of this for the foreseeable future.

I have also been swamped with my new job which has not been going very well. Okay, terrible.

I find myself broke and can't afford to do anything tomorrow. Other than work and try to find some way somehow to make a dime.

I am really disappointed as I wanted to meet everyone and enjoy a fabulous day downtown with a bunch of other Omaha groupies.

Too bad it didn't work out for today, I was really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Well we still definitely need to do it. Maybe we could even do a couple forum meets this summer. Late May and June are good months for me.

I'd actually even be willing to step up and get something organized.
