Heard a rumor Kiewit Plaza is being sold to an office user. The mystery group was the high bidder among multiple competitors.

Anyone heard anything? Would be great for the area to keep the building as offices.

I heard yesterday from a Kiewit employee that the Plaza is going to be sold to UNMC for doctors offices

That would be great, not sure how many more apartments buildings we need.

OWH's article on the sale of Kiewit Plaza has some nice tidbits. The building was sold to Blackstone Plaza group, led by John Lund for $16 million. They intend to name the building Blackston Plaza, unless a tenant buys naming rights. Once Kiewit vacates in 2021, 12 floors and over 120,000 sq. ft. of space will open up. Berkshire will take up another floor. It will be interesting to see how the city handles the absorption of all that space at once, but the investors are optimistic due to the investment in the Blackstone District, including the hotel, and the building's proximity to UNMC and Midtown Crossing. They contemplated using the vacated space for apartments, but they are going to office, with a planned $10 million in renovations, as needed. There is a nice picture of the view from the top level Cloud Room, as well. In any case, I am glad there are concrete plans once Kiewit leaves.

It looks like the Lunds are moving forward with marketing this building. There are some nice 3d shots of the interior including the Sky Room, which was great views. It's a pricey least at $22/sq. ft./year for office and $25 for retail, but it is in Blackstone.

$6 million TIF request to renovate this property. I like that they are adding two commercial spaces to the street level and there appears to be a rooftop bar. Not clear if that was going to be completely open to the public or what.

In this week's MBJ, there was an article about a small marketing/consulting firm called Zaiss & Company. They recently moved to the first floor of Blackstone Plaza. Not a huge employer (what I can tell, they have about a dozen employees), but good news for this building. They revealed the new office space to their employees on the same day of the streetcar reveal, so the president of the company felt really good about the move. Employess apparently love the location being close to Blackstone and Turner Park, plus having access to all of the amenities available in the building itself. According to a brief Google search, their old office was in Miracle Hills, so mark that as one company moving from West O to the urban core!
