I have never heard of this failed project before. I was looking through old newspaper articles and found this proposal in 1973, it would have demolished the Omaha building.

Also, all you need is a Omaha public library membership to view all old articles online, it’s really cool.

I do recall reading something about this in the World Herald years ago. Like many Omaha projects it never got built. And that saved a gem of a historic structure in the Omaha building. Which is still in excellent condition and one of Omaha’s most important historic and beautiful buildings.
