Hooters has opened their new La Vista location (near Cabela's and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema). For the time being, they seem to be only open for dinner. However, Hooters Council Bluffs locations is open for lunch.

Service at this new location is a train wreck. Even taking into account it's only been open a few weeks it's still bad.

Not shocking - I'm more surprised it lasted as long as it did. I haven't been to a Hooters since their location on 125th & Center St closed, which has been multiple concepts since.

I read somewhere the original developer bought back all of the stores and wants to refocus their restaurants on the family-friendly concept they were in the beginning. I guess I don't know when they stopped following the original model, but I'd have to say as a 19 year old, they weren't necessarily "family friendly". I mean, they weren't obnoxious, but we all know what the concept caters to.

When I was 18, there was a Hooters next to the theater I had gone to with my parents. Dad said why don’t we eat there, so we went in. I took one look around, and realized I could eat there with my father, but not my mother! Admittedly, mom probably wouldn’t have said anything, but I made the decision we were going somewhere else. “Family friendly” isn’t the words I would have used.

My first time in a Hooters was probably like 1993. So, 33 years ago. It wasn't "family-friendly" then. It was certainly more popular than it is today.

I suspect the CEO may be trying to rewrite history a little. I read somewhere that he said Hooters supposedly started off as a beach-themed family-friendly restaurant. Sure it did. With the name Hooters. Owls being seabirds and all. lol The brand is failing due to changing attitudes on objectifying women and he's trying to backpedal and save the brand. So, what does that mean? More conservative outfits for the waitresses and an expanded kids menu?

I only ever like their Hooters Daytona Beach Style Wings back in the day as they were some of the first widely-available char-buffed wings. Though, I rarely wanted to deal with their flirt-for-a-bigger-tip waitstaff.

Their food was never very good. Their wings were average at best. The only thing I remember on their menu, when it was available in the Spring/Summer, was their Key Lime pie. That was worth a carry out order..

Hooters novelty has worn off..almost completely…
