The Holiday Inn at 47th&Main was purchased by Americo Life Insurance and shut down a few months back. Burns & Mac has been selected to design and build a multi-structure replacement. Americo and BM are doing Waddell & Reed HQ tower and did Reverb (that one with Copaken).
Persons involved with the project let it be known today that movement has been ramping up on this project. Nothing has been announced publicly but this is what we know from leaks.

Wow impressive. I believe that will be the tallest in the Plaza area. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Plaza years ago.

That's awesome. Sitting up on that hill it will look a lot taller than 30 stories. I am trying to remember how tall the Marriott next door is. Maybe 19 or so?
That's a lot of development on that land. Did not realize there was that much of a footprint.

Holiday Inn (4 Points on this Map) is sizable. A streetcar stop will be right outfront of this project.Greg S wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:11 pm That's awesome. I expect the Extended Stay America to the south to get bulldozed and redeveloped in the near future too.

I love seeing continued development in the area. Hopefully Nordstrom doesn’t pause their store.strangerthings wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 3:22 am The Holiday Inn should start coming down the week of Christmas.
We used to stay at this hotel before the light rail downtown. Now we stay in downtown. It was a good location with a nice pool for the money.

I believe it can't exceed 198ft per local ordinance.strangerthings wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 7:25 pm So details of the signature apartment tower portion of the project were announced today.

Re: Kansas City Plaza - Holiday Inn Redevelopment
Drove by this place last Sunday it’s pretty much demolished. I wonder if they are going to try and get around the height restrictions. 30 floors will exceed 200ft.
The New Nordstrom’s in the Plaza has not been started yet but the site is cleared and looks to be ready for construction. . My guess it’s been delayed due to the pandemic. Saw this all on my annual trip to KC.
