Anyone else sad to see the turmoil with Twitter?
I still think Twitter is 1 Billion times better than Facebook and Instagram combined. If I had to pick one of the 3 and dump the other two, I would pick twitter every day of the week. If you are in to Arts, Sports, Outdoors, and Weather twitter is amazing. If you are in to Pop Culture and Politics, twitter is probably not the place for you.
Twitter still lets you have a real time feed without an algorithm. Tweet Deck is even better than twitter when you are on a computer because not only is it real time, there are no ads and you can sort the tweets.
My favorite thing about Twitter is that you can mute words. In this world of crazy noise and too many distractions, muting words is the best thing ever! Here are just some of the words I have muted; "Republican, Republicans, Democrat, Democrats, Consultative, Liberal, Politics, Debate, Election," Met twitter feed is really just photography, outdoors, and weather with just a little bit of sports mixed in. I just made it through the last election cycle with no political tweets and it was amazing.
Twitter and Facebook both let you Mute accounts, which is nice, but I still see too many of the muted accounts on Facebook sneak back in to my feed.
I really hope in the end, Twitter is completely ruined by whatever is going on right now... Its a great platform and I would like it to be around for years to come.

Re: Twitter
Musk’s lack of impulse control has already damaged Twitter permanently. I predict that he’ll sell it for pennies on the dollar, and the staff who left will be offered their old jobs, and the adverts will return as well.Brad wrote: Sun Nov 20, 2022 2:33 am Anyone else sad to see the turmoil with Twitter?

Re: Twitter
Twitter is by far the best social media outlet, pretty sad that Elon appears to be ruining it. Have seen a huge increase in spam DMs I get since Elon took over. I use it primarily to follow sports/sports betting information, there isn’t any comp for real time information.

Corporate office may be a dumpster fire, but the user experience hasn't changed at all, which is good.

Re: Twitter
The user experience is still the same as Elon has not made any real changes to the product. I help with an account with 200,000 followers and if anything the bots have gotten a little better.
When Twitter had 200 million daily users they had 1,000 employees. They currently have 240 million daily users and had increased the employee count to 7,500. Other than increasing the number of characters it has not really changed that much in the past 5 years.
Fun Fact: Twitter co-founder, Evan Williams "EV" grew up in Clarks NE before moving to Columbus for his senior year of high school.

Isn't there also some local lore that the Twitter bird was based on the bird on the Mockingbird Plaza sign at 108th & Mockingbird?Trips1 wrote: Mon Nov 21, 2022 8:05 pm Fun Fact: Twitter co-founder, Evan Williams "EV" grew up in Clarks NE before moving to Columbus for his senior year of high school.
