This is a bit of a surprise, as they don’t seem to have any other stores outside New York City.

Saw some info from the admin of the Omaha Food Lovers' Facebook group about this place last night that clears up the biggest question I had: the guy who started Williamsburg Pizza in Brooklyn is from Omaha originally and has been wanting to open one in his hometown for awhile. So it's not as random as it seemed at first! He partnered with the franchise group that runs the local Jimmy John's locations to run the restaurant, but it's not a franchise (he owns it).

Opens May 30. It only has four tables inside -- primary focus is on carryout and delivery. Early reviews from people who've been to their nightly soft openings seem to indicate they've been able to replicate the taste of their NYC locations, which would be amazing considering Williamsburg has earned some of the best reviews among NYC pizza joints. Can't wait to try it.

I stopped in here on Tuesday for carryout. They were doing a pretty good business. WBR_Tom is correct. There's only about 4 tables and it's primarily a carryout place. Pizza was good. It's not that thin crust NYC style people may expect. It's Brooklyn style and so a bit thicker. They also have a "Grandma Square Crust," but I have no idea what that means. lol

The style originated on Long Island. It's cooked in a conventional oven rather than a pizza oven(coal ovens being impractical travel with for Italian immigrants). The square crust is thin but dense and crisp probably to support the plentiful toppings which typically include a chunky tomato sauce that sits over a copious amount of mozzarella. Olive oil is also a key ingredient to the crust and flavor. Additional ingredients seem to vary by "grandma".

Finally made it to this place recently. Did takeout for a group of family——had the margarita, mushroom/truffle oil, and apple/bacon pizzas, meatballs and garlic knots. Everything lived up to the hype. My personal favorites were the apple/bacon pizza and the garlic knots. Had a few OMG moments during the feast.

I was thinking the same thing. A future location there may be easier to get in and out of than the Fuddruckers location. Aksarben seems like the next best place for something sooner than later.

Agreed with the Aksarben Village potential spot..

Another “sooner than later” option could be the free standing Granite City location at Westroads. The place has been available since GC closed the location permanently a couple of years back..Good spot and plenty of parking..also within view of Top Golf…

We may have different ideas about "trendy" food but my comment was about the number of people coming as far away as say Bellevue to the existing location. Nonetheless it occurs to me that putting a second location closer to the first may help satisfy the overwhelming demand in a smaller radius before going further east. For those that live near the rumored area it would be a nice change from the usual suspect national chains. Surly a win-win for the restaurant and the area.

There's been a recent burst of locally owned pizza places east of 72nd including Franks, Lyle's and Dolomiti and trucks going brick and mortar, like Mootz and Izzy's. Williamsburg's choice of staying in West Omaha for now seems strategic, but I could see it opening downtown in the near future.

I was in their 168th & Harrison location for lunch today and asked the guy when they expected the 156th & Maple location to open. He said they were hoping for June.

Had a great pizza at the new 156th and Maple location last night. Was a little concerned about quality control as they were packed. But the pie was great. It was even pretty upon opening the box. I should have taken a picture but it was in my mouth too quick. The slices were huge and my wife had three of them. I might have had a few more than three. Possibly.
