This is a beautiful, working concept, that is not an eyesore!
Now this is a proper suburb, which should cut down on traffic, eliminate suburbs being subsidized by the inner city and increase the quality of life to suburbanites!
No more being holed up in your home island in a sea of equally holed up homes and having to drive through oppressive traffic in a sea of asphalt jungles to get necessities.
Omaha should seriously consider this concept.

I brought this development up a long time ago. I wanted Crossroads to be a car-free development of some sort. I gave Culdec as an example. Same criteria matched: Adds much needed housing density, close to major transit line and University to attract students. At the time, it was just renderings. It's nice seeing actual photos of the development.Renovator2559 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 3:40 pm This is a beautiful, working concept, that is not an eyesore! Now this is a proper suburb, which should cut down on traffic, eliminate suburbs being subsidized by the inner city and increase the quality of life to suburbanites!

Phase 1 is open. Thought it would be fun to follow how this development goes.

Good eye in keeping tabs on this development! Phoenix has been making great moves at making their city more transit oriented. I was impressed in using the light rail from Phoenix to Mesa.Dusty wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 3:49 pmI brought this development up a long time ago. As for Crossroads, I hope the project is successful but there are plenty of challenges that need to be addressed, such as the addition of yet more street widening surrounding the development. We'll see how that project goes, though it would have benefited more in adopting more concepts of this phoenix development.

Not sure if any of you follow Mr. Money Mustache. He writes a blog about financial freedom and frugality.
He mentioned he is moving to Culdesac Tempe for the Winter to experience the car-free lifestyle. This development lines up with the things he often talks about. He always says owning a car is the worst investment you can make. It will be interesting to see how his experience goes.

The idea is nice but it’ll be filled with Millennial owned stores selling a burger for $15 and organic overpriced groceries.

That’s a hollow complaint and unneeded gripe in this thread. Is it suppose to be exclusively older generation owned stores with fast food? What could you possibly mean by this comment?PotatoeEatsFish wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 1:15 pm The idea is nice but it’ll be filled with Millennial owned stores selling a burger for $15 and organic overpriced groceries.

Since millenials have to pick up after the "boomer first" policies and deal with a host of health problems because of the fast food scene and toxic foods seen as ok for boomers to feed their younger generations. Many millenials and younger generations are now chronically ill and are pharma slaves. Mental health starts with nutrition and being fed poison, has resulted in handicapped younger generations.PotatoeEatsFish wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 1:15 pm The idea is nice but it’ll be filled with Millennial owned stores selling a burger for $15 and organic overpriced groceries.
While older generations enjoyed healthier foods, proper third places; as they voted to turn buildings into parking lots and getting rid third places for youth, leading to the young turning towards social media as their outlet; which is a complaint of older generations that had all these proper third places.
If a person wants to be a pharma slave and accelerate their aging process and complain about all their bone problems, chronic conditions and deem their aging ailments as "normal", let them follow that lifestyle; its their body their choice.
That Millennials want to eat healthy food and take care of their health should not be seen as a downside, health is the most valuable asset we have; lose your health you lose everything.
Every single societal problem, stems on how toxic our nutrition has become. Feed the population toxic foods and the society will become unstable as a result of those food choices.
