'Common road pollution':
City of Valley starts Adopt-a-Road Program to help keep the community clean



VALLEY, Neb. — As the city of Valley sees more and more growth, officials are leaning on the community to keep the streets clean. A new 'Adopt-a-Road Program' challenges people to commit their time to pick up litter. It all started when the city got multiple complaints about trash starting to build up on roads and in ditches.

Over the last 10 years, Valley has seen its population steadily increase, and with more people means the need for more construction. As crews build new houses and businesses, the trash is starting to get left behind or blown away by the wind. Valley's Public Works Department launched the program, drawing inspiration from Douglas County to get volunteers out and clean up.
