Having grown up in Texas:

I'd love a Whataburger here. Or an In-n-Out.

But Buccee's I hope we can find some sort of state law codes to keep these mega-gas stations out of the state.

We need healthy green, high electron rich food restaurants, here. Not more, poison "food" restaurants that contribute to the rising obesity rates and a sick society dependent on pharma drugs, which cause other (side effects) diseases.

Never been at a Bucees, I'm neutral on this.
In the event that they somehow decide to bring Bucee's to Omaha, building a Bucees is no different than building a big box store, but keep it away and as far away from the urban core, if somehow Bucees wants to place one in Omaha they could be built in West Omaha, near an i80 exit ramp.

I think you can relax about The Buc coming to Omaha. There's no reason for them to open up--no tourism, and the locals would take The Beaver's existence as a slap in the face, reinforcing the Nebraska inferiority complex concerning all things Texan.

Maybe, maybe around Waverly for the eight Husker home games traffic, possibly around York to snag the US-81 traffic that's heading to/from TX.

Honestly we shouldn't feel any inferiority of our state of Nebraska, there are so many things we do right as a state, our metrics paint a picture of how well the state is running. we are a very stable state, our state is run well, pretty sane. Nebraska was named 3rd best state by U.S News for this year, let's not forget that.

Union Pacific is headquartered here in Omaha, which controls close to 50% of all the rail lines west of the Mississippi. BNSF controls the other 50%, and while BNSF is no longer headquartered in Lincoln, NE; Berkshire Hathaway controls BNSF, so essentially Omaha is at the epicenter of freight, transporting goods through this half of the nation.
We have Scooters spreading into Texas. We have Berkshire Hathaway group of companies too and there are more.

While Texas does some things right, there are also things they do not do right, like creating their sprawling asphalt jungles, truck culture; they haven't figured out how to build proper cities and that's why there's unnecessary traffic congestion, due to poor urban planning.

We learn from other state's mistakes and implement the best ideas, we may not be a large state or a high population state but we have high quality cities.

The superficial herd will always go to the superficial places and make those places unstable, while we attract people that share our values and care for things that truly matter.

I think what was a slap in the face was what happened with TD Ameritrade being purchased by that Texas based Charles Schwab company (I detest and do not like seeing that name) and what Conagra did was also disgusting thanks to that self-centered CEO.

On second thought, let's hold off on having Buc-ees here. Buc-ees sued Omaha Bucky's for name infringement but Buc-ees lost.

I think Bucee’s are fun. They have real decent food and variety- they’re much more than an overgrown gas station convenience store. I hit up Bucee’s everytime I’m in Texas visiting family..

If they were to open one, in say Gretna, it would be a big hit imo…

I visited my first Buc-ee’s by Fort Valley, GA last week on my road trip north. They seem to be a huge draw for car travelers. I don’t think they allow semis in. There lots of Buc-ee’s merch from pkg food, to fresh bbq meat sandwiches to clothes/souvenirs/etc. I found this 2 yr old video of the location I stopped at.

Was in Boulder at our Daughters for a long Holiday weekend. On the way home, our route took us Near Johnston, CO, since we stopped to get some fresh-picked Peaches.

Took the opportunity to stop at my First ever Buc-ee's at the Johnstone Location that was opened in March of 24. The Place was busy beyond belief. I came in from a back road, but the I-25 S-bound traffic was backed up onto the interstate with cars trying to get to Buc-ee's. There is not much else at that exit right now, and nearly all the cars seemed to be going through the round a bout to get to the gas station.

Got gas and it was the cheapest I saw or paid on the entire trip $2.38

Sorry, though, I don't get it. My wife and i spent 20 - 30 Min there just looking around. Not a place I find a need to go to unless the gas is cheaper than anywhere nearby by a significant amount, and I will then pay at the pump. I guess my newly developed guideline for a gas/convenience store is that I do not need to go into one that provides and has many people using shopping carts.

From my experience in Texas Buc-ee's they have some good beef jerky on a beef jerky wall. Their bbq brisket and smoked turkey sandwiches were far better than normal gas station fair. A huge selection of Texas goods and beaver nuggets are another nice treat for the road. Lastly, their bathrooms are typically impecible for as much traffic as they get and they're a nice spot to stop and stretch your legs. If anything, the worlds largest truck stop is fairly comparable.
