Taste of Everest (138th & Millard Ave)

Post by ChadJK »

Taste of Everest
13748 P St
Omaha, NE 68137

A new Nepalese/Indian restaurant in Millard where Buddha Belly used to be (and before that China Bistro and before that Taco Bell).

I think they may have previously been located somewhere else or operating out of a food truck or something as this location is new, but there's Google reviews for the business from 1+ years ago.

I drive by this place everyday on my way home from work - I'm not sure how long it's been there, but at least a few months. Long enough to have the main sign changed out, only to see it nearly fall all the way over (last I knew their pole sign was basically dangling upside down).

I don't think I saw a single car or customer inside eating there when it was the Chinese place before (Buddha Belly I think?. I know some think the more run down the place looks, the more authentic it is... but I have issues with eating at a place that looks like 1/2 the lights aren't turned on and the parking lot outside is overgrown with vegetation that comes above the storefront windows.

Hopefully this latest concept does better... but they might want to get their sign fixed.

Buddha Belly
The place that started in Gretna did OK. Thought they could do better with a move and that didn't work out so well
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

Somehow Buddha Belly clung on for 5 years at this Millard location. I went to this location to eat like twice. As expected, it tasted the same as it did when he was in Gretna. It seemed like most of his business was through the drive thru. He did seem to have a couple of people working for him. When he was in Gretna it was often a one man show. Hopefully, it worked out for him and he just decided to close up on his own terms.

This new place has a couple of good reviews, but as djc311 noted, their pole sign is wind damaged and I didn't see any cars in their parking lot at lunchtime today. I enjoy Indian food, so I'm hoping this new place works out.

Is the Taste of Everest still a thing? Last time I drove by I noticed the sign is now completely down (either fell down or they removed it) and there was a single car parked right against what was once the drive thru. I never see lights on and the grass/shrubs/etc are not maintained at all.

I do wish anyone that has the guts to open a small business success... but I'd find it hard to ever visit a place that looks like it's not even open and/or is falling apart.

Their sign blew down in some high winds we had a couple months ago. Well, I suppose it didn't blow down, but it was sitting at severe angle and was probably taken down for safety. I've not tried eating there.

Not sure if this place is still a thing - the other day driving home from work there was a guy on the roof and it appeared some of the clay tiles were missing. I think all of the signs are down (at least the pole sign is for sure). The grass was extremely overgrown and there were a couple of service trucks in the parking lot (looked almost like OPPD or some type of utility vehicle).

Has anyone eaten at this place?
