Getting ready for the 2006 National Championships at the Qwest.

The UNL women's team just moved up to #2 in the polls 11 points behind #1 Hawai'i.

But they are not the highest ranked Nebraska Volleyball team.
UNK has been #1 ever since week one (#3 pre-season)
They hosted and won the SW regionals and are now in the elite 8 for the second straight year and fourth overall.

Nebraska has one of the best High School Volleyball programs in the US!

Wow, if the crowd at the Qwest is as enthusiastic as they are at the Colluseum (sp), that place will have an incredible atmosphere!

Now that Omaha has the Qwest - a great venue for championship atmosphere, and a local constituent that is volleyball savvy - I would think that we may be able to schedule more volleyball districts/championships here. CWS=Omaha - Volleyball=Nebraska.

Also something to chew on: on the last Creighton Sports Hour, they had Coach Bernthal-Booth on and she said the current contract with the Huskers is a visit to the Coliseum next year and in 2006 to play the Huskers at the Qwest Center. Considering the rapid improvement CU has been undergoing, that could be quite the battle two years from now. Two Top 25 teams maybe? Top 10?
