Misinformation About Nebraska

It's insane how people seem to know very little about Nebraska.

So much misinformation in this video alone (just as an example). Omaha is not the "Capital". Denver is not the closest international airport (among other things I'm sure):

I agree, this video is $hit, but i've also seen videos about why someone would move to nebraska, why omaha is great/why omaha sucks, etc., so I feel like it's more click bait than anything. Doesn't do much to help people's perceptions of the area, but then again, that video isn't going viral any time soon anyway. I do think the state/city need to do some better work promoting the state, like how Missouri has done lately (they actually make me wanna go back there, even though i've been there a million times)

I saw this video a long time ago... it's the typical youtuber with the east or west coast flyover mindset, which has never been to Nebraska

Nick Johson, a youtuber known to visit the ghettos, the good and the bad sides of cities.

Visited midwest cities in a row, KC, Des Moines and a few others.

He wasn't really impressed by Kansas City didn't have many nice things to say and interestingly enough he came with the conclusion that Omaha was the best city he visited of all midwestern cities he visited. He even did an episode of Omaha where he only showed Gene Leahey Mall (before completion of Heartland)

This guy has visited all over the country and interviews locals too.

I would say his reviews are spot on and realistic.

The singular motivation of YouTubers is to get clicks. Not details, not nuance, clicks. Sometimes their content is great, but be skeptical over most creators. If you don’t even know the capital of the state you’re talking about, this clearly isn’t something you actually care about. It screams content farm.

I was going to add how he's a suburban enthusiast. When it comes to suburban views and predujicial, I dismiss them. That a suburbanite whose a critic and a real state agent, who also does consulting all over the country on how safe and stable a place is to move; shows that his words matter in this regard.

Every youtuber will have their own seperate beliefs and I won't agree with all of them.


However, when it comes to safety, cleanliness and a nice city, I agree with on Nick Johnson. There are other Youtubers that equally have some political beliefs that I don't align with, however I take them for their word on the points that matter and dismiss their political beliefs

I know plenty of people that have lived in Lexington and calling it Mexington is no longer the case, as many somalians and afghanis now live there. Many Mexicans have left, while the population has only gained 100 people over a 10 year period. Which I think people are moving because of the lack of job opportunities. As well as the suburban style sprawl that plagues small towns.

I'm not referring to that part, I did say prejudicial; I'm referring to other political beliefs that are integrated by some YouTube personalities, as well as their prejudices.

As I said, if a person visits Omaha and does plenty of traveling to the good and the bad all over the country including Omaha, as well as going to the good and not so good parts of Omaha, I will take note on what they have to say about Omaha. Political or prejudices not included

This youtube video was created by a local Omahan a few days ago and does a pretty good job in tackling misconceptions.

I did not like one of his previous videos underselling Omaha in the past, but he did a good job in answering the misconceptions of Omaha in this video.

I was impressed with the amount history and the level of information he included of the neighborhoods, pictures of the types of houses of the neighborhoods, major employers, things to do. And oh yes the Mutual of Omaha skyscraper, the riverfront and the public transit vision of the city, including the airport expansion.

The only thing I wish he mentioned, was how we reduced our crime with the successful Omaha 360 crime program.

So far, this is one of the best videos promoting Omaha by far and is perfect for those looking to move to Omaha, this video tackles any misconceptions of Nebraska and Omaha well.
