Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market

I work in the Florence area, and a neighboring business that we work with told me that the Family Fare on 30th will become a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. The current parcel is occupied by both the closed Family Fare and a Dollar Tree. There are no current permits or sales information listed.

I already miss the Family Fare, but this would be a very fitting and welcome addition to the area. It would get busier that's for sure. Might put the Bakers out of business. I would guess the existing building torn down and everything brand new.

Why would "Walmart" put Bakers out of business?
Bakers has a much better selection and higher quality products than Walmart. I just don't see the appeal of going to a Walmart over Bakers.

OK? Wal Mart as we obviously know does incredibly well in the suburbs (and with the rural population), so I guess it makes sense when they go there too?

Walmart would be cheaper than Family Fare and Bakers. I'd be more happy with some decent fast food options. BK, McD and Taco Bell are the slim options. BK is abmysal no matter what location, and this Taco Bell is terrible as well. But we do have that Romantix in the old Subway spot... If that brightens up the area.

That's the bottom line. I dunno why people are so quick to draw conclusions. Walmart is cheaper and it would be in a lower income area. 1+1=2 doesn't it? Adding Walmart here, though I prefer Family Fare (it was No-Frills when I was a kid) couldn't be a bad thing. It'll add more accessible and more affordable goods to the people who live there.

On the fast food side, I always thought there was a good amount of options. Jimmy John's, Godfathers, LJS, KFC, McDonald's, BK, Taco Bell, Little Ceasars, i think there's a Domino's up there too. I always loved that area, it's like an oasis where you'd probably least expect one to be. One thing I always wanted up there was a QT, Casey's, or Kum & Go at the 31st street exit.

There's always some people that go to Walmart no matter where but in those neighborhoods more are apt to prefer buying quality items.
I used to have to buy from Walmart many years ago because that was the only thing available in central nebraska. Regardless, I've never liked the quality of Walmart, I don't like the company, ethics and how it treats its workers. I would rather go to Hy-Vee because that company is employee owned and shows integrity, I like how clean and nice their stores are. I don't know the inner workings of Bakers but I know its close in Saddle Creek and they have quality products.

I am also not impressed with having to use Walmart's spyware app to do a mobile payment, I used to be able to make MST/NFC payments with my smartphone and Walmart implemented the draconian measure of making all other phone payments invalid.

I thought I heard there was going to be one in area of 168th and State, but I don't think there's much if any commercially zoned space there.

There’s been rumors of that and a Fareway in that area. It’s been a couple years though on both rumors (I am between Fort and Ida off 156th).
