Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on Omaha Forums. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. General

    1. Be Respectful: Everyone has different opinions and that’s ok. #
    2. No Politics: There are plenty of places to discuss politics on the internet, this is not one of them. It’s ok to discuss local races like mayor, in a nonpartisan way. #
    3. Posting External Sources

      1. News Stories: When posting news stories, you need to include a link to the story and a quote a brief section from the article. Whenever possible, the name of the author and media outlet should be cited. It’s never OK to post just a link with nothing else. It’s also never OK to post the entire article. Posting the full text and/or pictures from articles is typically a violation of copyright and subject to removal. #
      2. Other People's Photos: Whenever possible, the name of the photographer and media outlet/where you found the photo should be cited. #
  2. Topic Guidelines

    1. Development Forums: Urban, Suburban, Council Bluffs, and Lincoln are meant to be "Development Threads". Threads in this section should for the most part be about one single project. The title should include the project name and approximate location. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part needs to be a single project, and growth and development in nature. #
    2. Restaurant Threads: Restaurants should all have their own thread. The thread title should include the restaurant name and approximate location. If multiple locations, its ok to put “Multiple Locations”. Its also helpful if you start a new restaurant thread to include address, phone, hours, and website in the first post. #
    3. Sports Threads: Local team sports should have a new thread each year. The thread title should be along the lines of “Nebraska Football 2024-2025” or “Creighton Basketball 2024-2025” #
    4. Off-Topic Discussions: To keep the forum clean and organized, when something comes up like a Shooting at Westroads or a Fight in the Gene Leahy Mall, please do not discuss those in the development threads. We have a generic "Crime in Omaha" thread, or feel free to start a new thread in the News, General, or Bar and Grill section. Same goes for Cars vs Public Transit. If a project requires a debate about parking or transit, please take that discussion to one of the other threads geared towards that or feel free to start a new thread in Transportation, General, or Bar and Grill section. #
  3. Since 2004, eOmahaForums has been a great place to showcase and discuss all the great things happening in the Greater Omaha Metro Area! Please help keep it that way. Thanks! #
