As I was walking around downtown, the Swanson Plant had a fire. That was interesting. Whole thing lasted less than 30 minutes.

1. Status of the Butternut: pile of rubble.
2&3. Starting to get a feel of what the expressway will look like.

Fabulous Photos Potus!!!

I love the angle showing Redick Tower, Barker Building, CPP, and FNC!!! You really get an "urban wall" effect. Omaha really has lots of historic building stock that has yet to be "tapped". Although, there are plans for Barker Building, Paxton, and Lerner...which is awesome!

Some lady from Elkhorn wrote into the Public Pulse and sighted the overpass and the pedestrian bridge as Omaha's back-ward thinking, calling the overpass a "monstrosity." I threw a chair across the room after reading it.

I have three SoMa pics from early Thursday (4/24). I'll need a day or two to get them posted, though.

FWIW, there are windows in the first building (eventual model) and the building directly to the north has foundation and concrete frame around the garages/basements. Looks like the concrete is set for the stairs that lead out of those units down towards Leavenworth.

Looking forward to moving in...

I'm sure people in the suburbs of other large cities would say the same thimg about their little towns if they were going to be swallowed up. I don't think it's isolated to Nebraska. Somedays I lose sight of that.

I think that the West Dodge overpass is a monstrosity. Luckily the area around 114th and Dodge wasn’t that visually appealing anyway. I would have preferred the other option that was considered. That was an interchange much like the 144th street area. It was less expensive but would have cost us a Mc Donald’s, Burger King and some car lot space, big loss. Even though I'm not for the annexation and it looks like it will go through, I'm glad I'm not stressing over it like the rest of you.
