The eight-story hotel will be on the southeast corner of 33rd and Dodge Streets, with the lobby on a cul-de-sac off Dodge Street and an urban grocery store on the first floor.

Mutual is negotiating with a potential tenant for the grocery store space, McClelland said.

Duh jackass. I'm just saying that since I heard about this hotel last week and a Trader Joe's that the store they said they're negotiating with might be Trader Joe's.

One thing I have increasingly noticed is that "artist's renderings" of proposed projects tend not to reflect reality. In some cases, I suspect they were done by an artist that is in a city far, far away. Without the proper context of the property they are doing the drawing for, they put it trees, grass, parked cars, people and lots of other |expletive|. The 22 Floors rendering had a bus shelter in front of it. Might look nice there, but no bus runs down 13th Street!

The building in front of the hotel is butted right against the sidewalk, and I would think the hotel would be aligned the same way.

And I agree with you about the grass thing. If they really wanted the grass strip at Slowdown, they should have invested in sprinklers. That poor grass was dead by mid July.

What a fantastic addition to an already wonderful development. You know its going to be an amazing project when you can attract a company that's new to the area to a redevelopment project like this. Looking at the rendering, I wonder if they will be adding a drop off lane on Dodge Street. I can not wait to see what else comes to this project. I like your rumor of a Trader Joe's.

I don't see there being room for a drop off lane off Dodge Street. Plus, there will be a large circular drive/plaza east of the building.

You are correct, I did not see that drive when I first glanced at the rendering. The cars must just be one of those things that the architect threw in to accent the rendering.

I guess that'd explain why they've hung work lights on several of the lower floors of a couple of the buildings that are further along. Nice to hear they're continuing to make significant progress and are getting ready to work on the interiors (framing, electrical, plumbing, etc) as soon as things are encased.

If its the prefab stuff, expect it to go up quick.... With the super fast pace that they've been moving with this project, you'll be able to see some significant changes rather quickly here, as once they get started, its a fairly quick process to get those prefab panels up.

Plumbers are usually only about 3 or 4 floors below the floor they are pouring on. framers are right under them and then electricians. Most of the plumbing and electric rough ins are in long before the windows and or outer skin.

I'm not sure. On the way to work this morning my aunt said they were going to be talking about the Mutual of Omaha project on the TODAY show. I've been listening to it on the radio and haven't heard any promos for the story. Unless it came on from the time it took to get from the car to my desk.

I think it's like a topping out ceremony, only with concrete. They've poured as tall as the building will go, and the rest is just catching up on floors.

I was going to ask about how that could be the last cement being poured, but then I looked at the renderings. I see that the finish product has the elevator shafts sticking out of the roofs.

i thought that the movie theater had "views of the downtown skyline" from it's open glass front lobby? <--(I'm sure i read that in the article linked to the project from a couple months ago) From the looks of the map, it's going to be obscured by another building the complex it resides.

For those of you that fit the "Young Professional" demographic, the Midtown Crossing sales office is hosting this month's YPC Purely Social happy hour tomorrow night. You were supposed to RSVP by beginning of the week, but they never seem to turn people away if you show up without RSVPing...

I was just thinking the other day as I drove past the project on Farnam Street and looked in my rear-view mirror, how amazing the view will be heading EAST on Farnam toward Downtown. That picture totally illustrates that.

I wish they would make Farnam two-way all the way through Downtown... And a couple other key streets.
