I know a Trader Joe's has been mentioned for this project but not confirmed yet. I finally went to Trader Joe's a few weeks ago in Chicago. There was on in the bottom floor of our hotel. I wasn't overly impressed with it. I guess I expected more somehow from the way people talked about it it. To me it seemed like Patricks but just slightly bigger and more offerings in some areas. Sometimes it seemed like all of the food just tried to be too out there. If we ever get one here that would be cool but I could easily see a local or regional place doing something just as good.

I totally agree, D'Shawn.

I think Trader Joe's main appeal is that it offers a really great selection of organic and natural foods, and vegetarian and vegan options, and is considerably less expensive than "Whole Paycheck".

I'd much rather see a "Patrick's" or "Wholner's" in there, maybe offering a new concept that carries more organics, etc.

In other news, many window continue to be installed in the "crescent" buildings, and the theater building is getting lots more cladding.

And as Farnam Street is being worked on, they continue to cut strips down the middle that are peculiarly similar in width to what you'd see with streetcar line construction, so I can't help but envision the streetcar construction that will surely take place over the next couple years.

That's because there are still old tracks in Farnam right where they are digging! I put my $$ that they are removing the old stuff in conjunction with some utility work.

Trader Joe's varies greatly from location to location, though. There's one about two miles west of my house that's rundown and cramped and I hate it. There's another that's about two miles east of my house that's been recently renovated, is huge and clean and I love it. Your enjoyment of it will greatly depend on how well the Omaha one is done (if it's going in).

At any rate, I'm crossing my fingers for a TJ because it would go a long way in boosting Omaha in my wife's esteem.

Not sure if it has been posted, but there will be a Piano bar under the Movie Theater. The theater will be on the second floor, Piano bar on the street level.

Cool. Also, has anyone noticed if Mutual has added external lighting to the building? I saw it last night and I couldn't tell if it was construction lights or new external flood lights.

As of yesterday, the large circular drive around Turner Park was being paved, and probably about 2/3 complete.

Besides Prarie Life, the movie theater, the Element Hotel, and the Hyvee knock-off of Trader Joes, does anyone know if they've secured any other retail/restaurant tenants? There's an awful lot of retail space associated with this project, and this place is going to look like a ghost town with it all empty. Awful timing to be opening up such a large volume of higher end retail space.

I;m wondering if the lack of announcements means lack of committed tenants (as I suspect), or that they're holding off on announcement to make a "big splash" just prior to occupancy, in order to push sales of condos / leases on the rental units (as I'm hoping is the case).

I was going thought the web cams from the past several nights and I don't see any external lighting. I see a ton of construction lighting and the lights from the Central Football stadium look to be hitting the project too.

Ben, as far as I know, the Hy-Vee "Trader Joe's" knock-off is not confirmed. An urban grocery is planned for the ground level of the hotel, though.

I'm REALLY hoping that this summer we see some smash tenant announcements.

Central is pretty far away to be lighting up Mutual. It might just be construction lights. I only saw the east side.

I don't know for sure, but when you look at the web cam, you know exactly when Central's lights are on and when they are not.

I personally feel twitter is a complete waste of time. It has one purpose and that is to update your status. Why not use facebook where you can do the exact same thing and have the ability to do 1000 other things with the same website.

That being said, I found some really good vantage points of MofO development when I was working on my census job. I'll have to see if I can get to the same spots to snap some pictures.

Ha! After you posted that I went out on Facebook to see if they had anything and I found their page. They have pics up as well. Hopefully they'll use this as a way to give updates too. I'm really interested in what other retailers are coming.

I've known about this for quite a while, and just remembered that I hadn't mentioned it on here.

Garrison Partners Real Estate Consultants of Chicago are being brought in to take over marketing on this project. From what I've heard, these guys are "money" when it comes to selling/marketing large urban projects like this.

That really cool, but I was thinking from the top of the twin towers looking west at about 8am so that the midtown crossing buildings would be in full morning sun. I really like that one from early morning!
