I do agree with what you said previously, I just do not think sending another man to the moon with our "shuttle program" is a good way to spend tax payer dollars. Returning to the moon to establish a base is actually part of the process in sending a human to Mars. With current technology, or technologies that will be developed in the next 20 or more years, it wouldn't be possible. Mars is roughly 36 million miles away; the amount of fuel needed to escape Earth's gravity and fly that distance would be so huge, leaving straight from here would be a logistical nightmare. So they want to leave from the moon, and establish another station beyond the moon where they can save on expenses and resources by using ion propulsion.

Seriously though, that would make alot of sense launching from outside the Earth's atmosphere for the reasons you stated.

Nowhere else I've been has been as serious about fireworks as Omaha. Here in Midtown, there has been a pretty consistent crackle of firecrackers and bottle rockets for the past week, but apparently they were still saving up for the big finale last night. The entire evening until well past midnight was a constant background of pops, bangs, whistles, and smoke. The air was still hazy with gunpowder until almost noon today.

What is with you guys here? Sure, my friends and I had our share of fun with fireworks, but this is a completely new level!

It was a smoky fog from Harrah's to home (72nd and Sorensen) last night. A friend told me it was that way from Lincoln to Omaha also last night. I guess all the humidity in the air and no breeze just kind of trapped the particles in the air.

Never really thought pulling movie quotes out my bum was that impressive. It's largely useless info filling a portion of my brain that should probably be put to better use.
