Hallelujah... although I'd like to see the entire WOWT news team retire... let's have a little harder hitting journalism... please!

Its weird, I watched him on TV growing up, I waited on him when I worked at Old Chicago a decade or so ago, and just tonight, we were both in the Press Box at Rosenblatt... Interesting how when you are a kid you see someone as "famous" and then now, just one of the guys in the press box.

TV aside, as a individual, he has always been nice to me.

I think that is one of his problems as a journalist... he's nice to everyone... no objectivity. Unfortunately, I think Ross Jernstrom is just going to continue that. I don't like Travis Justice... but I think we need a little more 'Travis Justice' in our local sports journalism.

He was a complete [expletive] to me the one time I met him. So I was an even bigger [expletive] back. I can't stand him.

He mentioned Shirley's Diner last night, didn't he? I guess it's no surprise then that I ran across him there once.

During basketball season I believe Dave must mispronounce a Creighton basketball player's name on the 10 O'clock news while showing highlights. It happens at least every other game. The guy is clueless and one of the worst broadcasters in the city. He is up there with Michele Severe from Channel 7.

 There is SOOOOOO much hard hitting journalism to do in Omaha on a nightly basis.

Edit to say I am not trying to attack you. Rather, it made me think of the discussion here that a story on illegal behavior happening on a nightly basis in Memorial Park was poor journalism because it was not preceded by a 5 minute retrospective of the founding of the park.

I can't remember where I heard it, but last week, I heard Merlin did put in his resignation. Apparently he took a county job?

That's classic!
We were actually watching that live, when it happened...
My wife and I both just about fell out of our chairs laughing!

We still joke and call things the "EPI-tome" of whatever, when they are presented by the media as the latest & greatest...
Gotta love YouTube... it's all out there somewhere!

Did anyone here mention that Jon Schuetz left KETV?

Also... was it just me? or did Matt Schick disappear for a while... then re-appear with Schutz's departure?

Before I forget, and I know this is off topic for this thread, but did anyone notice during the storms last Thursday evening on channel 6 that Tracy Madden (I think) said "turn that sh-it off"? They were announcing a tornado warning for Douglas County and the screen apparently froze on the wrong radar image and one of the female anchors was NOT having it. Of course, I'm sure she thought her mic was off. :)

I believe that was mentioned somewhere (or maybe I'm thinking of Facebook). Do we have a 'Local Media' thread? If not, probably should have one.

It's funny you say that because this morning I happened to be in the car when Nick Bahe was making fun of him for that on the Sichick and Nick show. I never figured out what the story was though.

So let me get this straight, in the past year Travis Justice, Dave Weber and John Schutz all retired from TV? Does that make JJ Davis the dean of the local sportscasters?
