i can't believe you were downtown after sunset. Don't you know that's when the bad guys come out? ...and i was rooting for you to gun it at the red light at the end

Haha. Someone found your video and posted it to MTC's Facebook. I saw it there and was just about to post it here not knowing that you shot the video!

Way to go, Brad.

The video also shows the clear "groove" markings in the street for the double line when Farnam goes two way.

It looked like the led lights on the side of the building were changing color! What a nice touch. That ads great excitement to the nighttime ambiance of the area. This will be a new hub of night life in Omaha!

They |expletive| disabled the audio on copy right issues... It was |expletive| background music playing on my cd player in the car.

If they're using a video that you shot (regardless of your intended use) for their marketing purposes - regardless of the audio track - you probably have a legitimate legal issue. At the very least you could get them to remove the clip from their site.

I don't care about Midtown Crossing using it.

Its just funny that youtube disabled the audio because of music that was playing in the background...

It is still a copyright issue. That is why I have my students make their own music in garageband for their video projects and news casts.

Yeah the center condo building has some sweet up/down lighting with blue accent lighting at the ends. The theater has some really cool LED panels that change color and stuff too. The lobby/lounge area is coming along very nicely as well. I can't wait for this to open!

I don't see why they stop at 36th St. If they really want to make it easier, why not extend it to 42nd so that there's not like 6 blocks of one-way traffic uselessly sitting in the middle. It's not THAT busy on Farnam through there to justify keeping the street one way in my opinion...

I agree, and that's probably the ultimate goal. In fact, I think that was proposed a long time ago with the adoption of Destination Midtown to the City's master plan.

All the landscaping is looking great, too. Are they still planning for a good chunk of this to be finished by November? Seems like a lot of work left on the insides.

I'll try to dig up the information, but yeah, eventually all the one-ways are planned to be two-way streets, this includes both Farnam and Harney from Midtown to Downtown.

i have had to drive by like 10 times in the last few days and i love the project. It's got a lot of street presence, and i think that it will be something great for all the people that choose to live there. It's got good density and will, i'm sure, feel very alive once it's complete. I have just one hang up: could they have used a different color of brick? The yellow seems to be a hair outdated already (even though it really isn't THAT bad)... I was thinking about it and they could have done some cool fading from brown to tan or anything like that. Just something to break up the monotone yellow. Maybe once it's done and there are people living in it, the color won't seem so bland...

Funny, I thought it was tan and brown... doesn't seem very yellow to me.

As far as taking photos of the sign, there is no where to take on from yet because the street is still all closed off with security near by. Either I am going to wait, or I need someone from Mutual to get me clearance to walk around in there.

Midtown Crossing will be open to the public on 11/7. The businesses won't be open quite yet, but you can still walk around the sidewalks and go into the park. Woot-woot!

You know, it is funny. It seems to have a yellow tint to me. Maybe it was the time of day. Maybe it was the color of the brick playing off the other Mutual buildings. Or maybe my eyes interpret color differently than everyone else here. Point is, the colors seem sort of bland to me and i would like them to have done something a little different. That's all.

while driving back and forth to children's lately, i have been afforded the many opportunities to see the project up close and get a good look at what is going on. It'd be nice to have the rear structures done and ready to go with everything else, but even in their current form they add a great feel to the area. On channel 6 tonight, they showed a view of downtown from MTC which really showcased the new density this project brings. it floors me away at the changes that have occurred from the way it used to look and how it is now.

Hopefully hearing some of the new residents talking about the development will really be a selling factor.

I think MTC will really pull a LOT of Midtown employees (Mutual, Kiewit, UNMC) from West Omaha.

I like it a lot better. I'm glad they re-branded.

I'm a little confused by the "Condos in Omaha," "Homes in Omaha," and "Apartments in Omaha" links... all of which are about homes at Midtown Crossing.

It also really annoys me when projects use stock photography to sell the "lifestyle". That's one thing I really loved about jLofts; they did most (if not ALL) of their photography in Omaha around Downtown.

I really doubt it. The problem with Omaha's condo market is that they're all grossly overpriced. How many people really want to spend a quarter-million+ on a 1200 sq ft condo when you can get a house twice as big with your own yard for half the price down South or out West? It's not like commute times around town are that bad; we not be a 20-minute city anymore but it's still a 30-minute one.

Maybe the condos are a little overpriced, but the market will respond.

Some people have different values, Ben. They're not just buying four walls, it's the lifestyle. They want to be able to walk, ride a bike, or take transit to the places they want to and need to be. They don't want to rely on a gas-powered car, or to have the hour daily commute that comes with moving to the fringes.
