I love how he calls it the "CWS Stadium".

So there's a plan for shuttles to run the streetcar route? Why not just build the damn thing already.

I dunno. Frankly, as long as the transportation is there, I ultimately don't care if it is a streetcar or not. The streetcar adds permanence (until we rip it out every 50 years or so, of course).

You should be able to hop on a shuttle in downtown or Midtown no less frequently than every 15 minutes heading either direction until midnight - 1:30 on the weekends. Maybe more during rush hours and lunch.

I completely agree.

However, I hope that people wouldn't use the shuttle as a "proof of concept" for streetcars. Yes, having the service is completely necessary, but way more people would ride the streetcar than would a measly shuttle just for the fact that it's a streetcar.

They turned on all the christmas lights tonight. It looks pretty cool - a lot of trees with lights on them.

Who said anything about it being a competitor to the Old Market, and what does that have to do with streetcars vs. shuttle buses?

In no way is this an EXTENSION of the Old Market (though I think I know what you're trying to say). It needs to have functional and seamless connectivity with Downtown and other areas of urban Omaha. While maybe not necessarily "competition" (which is arguable), Midtown (and Midtown Crossing) is totally distinct from the Old Market (or North Downtown, or other areas) and will attract people who might have otherwise gone to the Old Market.

The more the merrier, though. A rising tide lifts all ships. Hmm, what other cliches apply here...

I know this is off topic but seriously with the Christmas lights already? A Quizno's out here in L.A. was jamming Christmas music yesterday. I think it should be law, no lights or music until after Thanksgiving at least. End rant.

No joking here: i saw 2 Christmas commercials on November 1. I found it odd, because i was just getting done with sleeping off the fun from Halloween. There's a guy on 4th ave (in CB) right next to the interstate that has had his house decorated for a couple weeks...and has been turning the lights on for about a week and a half.

Yeah, so do I. But I haven't noticed if they've added the route maps that MAT has started featuring at their other shelters. If they haven't yet, I SURE hope they do SOON. Route schedules would also be appropriate and appreciated (as they would at all stops).

The other evening I was returning downtown on the #2 from yet another dissappointing shopping trip to Target, and as we rounded the bend at Turner Park, almost everyone on the bus gave out a collective "oooooohhhhhh, aaaaahhhhh". It really does look pretty. And I have had my xmas tree up since Saturday. :D

my wife and i saw "everybody's fine" at the theater and we were thoroughly impressed. I like the concept and execution of this theater better than any other in the area. We got there a little early and had a couple drinks at Glo (awesome bar top), got our tickets, and stopped up at Vue for another drink. The bars were both nice and clean looking (not just cleanliness, but appearance) and priced right on with my expectations. They had a few ladies playing Christmas music in the lobby, which was a nice touch. We did the cinedine and the food was decent. Not the best i've ever had, but it was reasonable and tasted good. We ordered it, and the lady keyed our order in a wireless PDA, and our food was out to us in literally like 8 minutes. When it showed up, i was nervous because i had fries (and you can always tell when fries have been pre cooked and sat under a lamp), but they hot and crispy. I really cannot believe no one did it sooner; eating dinner while watching a movie (and havin a beer) is awesome.

After going, i'm really excited about the project. It would be cool if prairie life were open later, or 24 hours. There is a ton of parking, which will help with those coming from CB/west O. We were able to park right across the street.

The park is absolutely beautiful with all the lights and snow on the ground (cue: eomaha photographers!). Plus, the whole area is huge. You can't really gauge the scale of the project until you get out and walk around. It's huge---certainly much bigger than you'd think from simply driving by. There's a butt load of retail space and in the summer time, i have a feeling it will be hopping with the new bars, shops, and restaurants opening up.

Good time, i love it.

Every time I drive buy I am more impressed. Now there is a sign facing west on another parking structure, the hotel is taking shape, and the Christmas lights add a surreal felling to everything.

My wife and I visited the new Marcus Midtown Crossing Cinema on Friday night and I like everyone else here that has commented on the place, was thoroughly impressed. I am not a big "going to out the movies" kind of guy, and usually prefer just staying home to watch movies on our big screen and maybe having an alcoholic beverage or two. Saying that, I think the Cinema at MTC will get us out of the house a lot more often to catch new movies. We bought the VIP seating for $15 a piece, and I was amazed at how comfortable the seats were. And you guys were right, the alcoholic beverage prices were not bad at all, not what I was expecting. I think my wife paid more for a soda than I did for a beer, got to love that, and also wonder what the heck?

Also I had driven by the MTC several times, but didn't catch the feel and scope of the project until we walked down Farnam Street after the movie. Turner Park is an absolute gem now, along with the entire project. I really liked the ease of parking at the project at the nearby parking garage, I was pretty surprised that parking was free (for under 3 hours) on a Friday night! Overall I loved it and can't wait to go back soon.

Heard through the grapevine that MAT plans to start Farnam Street Bus service Sunday, with the Express routes starting Monday. MAT is currently updating their web site and will have current schedules posted by the end of the week.

If I hear anything different I'll post it here.

Anyone find it suspicious that the developers won't talk about how many condos they have sold? For example, they said they have already hit 50% of their sales goal for the year- if their sales goal for the year is only 10, then they only sold 5... you get the idea...

I also got a note from a realtor today that MTC is going to offer resale assurance for the condos... basically if someone can't get 90% of the price they paid for their condo in 3-5 yrs. MTC will either buy it back or pay the owner the difference between resale price and 90% of the original price.
