Fans from the league's other cities were taking notice on the UFLAccess board today. What makes this even more impressive is that you could not order tickets unless you had a promotional code the first day. I nosed around until I found the promotional code. Wasn't too hard to find. Fact remains though that today, May 24 was listed on sight as first day for sales if you were trying last week without the promotional code.
Not sure where 1992 of then went but I know 2 of them went to me and I know where another 6 went besides that.

Yeah, I don't know how many people on the forum can claim to have seen the Omaha Mustangs, Omaha Knights, Kansas City-Omaha Kings, Sunset Speedway or Cornhusker Raceway or remember where the Cornhusker Raceway was.

Ex-Lions' End Dewayne White Drafted By UFL's Omaha Franchise
Defensive end Dewayne White, who most recently played for the NFL’s Detroit Lions, was selected No. 1 overall by the expansion Omaha Nighthawks in the 2010 United Football League Draft Wednesday. White, 30, who was released by the Lions in March with two years left on the five-year, $29 million contract he signed in 2007, is one of several NFL veterans tapped by the independent pro American League.

The Nighthawks, the league’s newest franchise, now has the rights to 12 potential contributors, most of whom have spent considerable time with NFL teams during the past decade. Among the recognizable names called out after White for Omaha were: 10-year NFL veteran Chike Okeafor (No. 6 overall); former Eagles Shawn Andrews (No. 11) and ex-Oakland wide receiver Ronald Curry (No. 26). Also picked by the Nighthawks were DeMarcus Faggins (No. 35), who spent most his NFL career with Houston and Frank Walker (No. 47).

Nope, not if this holds

http://www.omaha.com/article/20100505/NEWS/305059870
Jagodzinski said the plan is for the Nighthawks to wear black jerseys and black helmets. He'd like the complimentary colors to be silver and white, though that hasn't been approved just yet.

Besides Red will limit what the sell IMO. If it is Red many who attend then games will wear their Husker gear. A new color and many will buy that shirt for the game or whatever. They need to stand apart from the normal Nebraska look so they are noticed.

Still Waiting

Charlotte Observer wrote:STILL WAITING — While defensive end Julius Peppers found work quickly this offseason, the uncapped year hasn’t paid off nearly as well for many other unrestricted free agents.

Receiver Muhsin Muhammad, quarterback Josh McCown, right guard Keydrick Vincent and defensive tackle Hollis Thomas are among the growing rolls of older players having a hard time finding work despite solid resumes.

According to the NFLPA, 117 of the 233 unrestricted free agents (50.2 percent) have signed after the first 10 weeks of free agency this year. Compare that to 208 of 338 (61.5 percent) in 2009 and 203 of 315 in 2008 (64.4 percent), and it’s clear the impact the league’s labor uncertainty has had on veteran players.

At least one of the Panthers free agents has a chance to work next year if he chooses. Thomas was one of the NFL veterans chosen in last week’s United Football League draft. He was picked in the 11th round (51st overall) by the Omaha Nighthawks.

From Ufl site...

"The commish announced some news...

A sixth team will be announced at the end of the month and will play in 2011.
The league will have 8 teams for the 2011 season.
Omaha fans have really impressed the league and other teams.
More than 2000 season tickets sold in the first 4 days, more than double that any other team.
The commish will be there for the first game.
If NFL goes on strike next year, look for games to be on Sunday."

Alternate log that will be on sholders of uniform and various merchandise

Omaha's military connection inspires Nighthawks' logo
Dirk Chatelain WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:They'd come in shorts and T-shirts to see men in fancy suits reveal the Omaha Nighthawks' new logo: an F-117 Nighthawk, better known as a Stealth fighter. But head coach Jeff Jagodzinski couldn't stop there. So he let the crowd in on a little secret. The first home game, he said, he was planning a stealth bomber fly-over at Rosenblatt Stadium. The new logo and colors, inspired by Omaha's military connection at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, should only increase enthusiasm.

The Nighthawks have sold more tickets than any other franchise. They have the most interest in hosting the UFL championship game, the most followers on Twitter and Facebook, the most number of players at tryouts.

Jagodzinski said the Nighthawks are still in discussion with Ahman Green about playing for Omaha. The big UFL news this week is three-time Pro Bowler Daunte Culpepper's signing with the Sacramento Mountain Lions. He'll be re-united with former Vikings coach Dennis Green.

Despite the fact that there are no F117's at Offutt. I like the alternate logo with the bird better. I guess it doesn't matter, I'm 550 miles away.

Ahman Green agrees to join UFL for 2010
The UFL announced via its Twitter account that Ahman Green will be playing in the league this season. The press release won't come out until tomorrow, but we're assuming that he's signed with Omaha. The Nighthawks were targeting Green last week, and he played college ball at Nebraska. If the 33-year-old shows well, he could earn a December "call-up" to the NFL.

JaMarcus Russell could be joining the UFL
NBCSports wrote:A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the expansion Omaha Nighthawks could be signing Russell, who would team up with running back Ahman Green in the team's backfield. There's still a long way to go before Russell would actually join the team, the internal discussions have begun, and they will continue. He'd become the second former first-round NFL quarterback to join the five-team league for 2010. Recently, Daunte Culpepper agreed to terms with the Sacramento Mountain Lions.

I don't think they could have picked any more geographically separated cities than what they have thus far... I can't imagine what the travel budget is going to be for this league.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the expansion Omaha Nighthawks could be signing Russell, who would team up with running back Ahman Green in the team's backfield.
MOBILE, Ala. -- Former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell has been charged with possession of a controlled substance -- codeine syrup -- after being arrested at his home in Alabama on Monday, authorities said.

UFL still wants JaMarcus
NBC Sports wrote:We've confirmed via two UFL sources that the Omaha Nighthawks remain interested in adding Russell to their roster for 2010. As one source explained it, the league's interest in Russell possibly has increased in the wake of the arrest for possession of a controlled substance; if, after all, the UFL is going to gain ground as a possible developmental league, it needs to attract players who hope to develop their skills for the highest level of the sport.

Omaha Nighthawks Announce Signings
Bleacher Report wrote:The Omaha Nighthawks have announced the signings of eight players with NFL experience. The newly signed roster includes....

•Fred Smoot
•Craphonso Thrope
•Ryan Hoag
•Ronald Curry
•Justin Fargas
•Brian St. Pierre
•Patrick Ramsey
•Chike Okeafor

Chris Brown, Tony Dorsett, Robert Ferguson, George Foster, and LaMont Jordan were not listed, although they were listed earlier in the week.

The Nighthawks also listed their provisional roster. This is a list of players who are coming to their camp, but not all of them have signed rosters.

Players of note listed include...

•Shawn Andrews
•Daniel Bullocks
•Jeff Garcia
•Charles Grant
•Tyjuan Hagler
•Victor Hobson
•Cato june
•Ashley Lelie
•JaMarcus Russell

A lot of those names come as a shock. It still needs to be seen how many of these players will be signed, or even attend the Nighthawks camp.

A complete roster can be found HERE

D.J. Shockley thinks UFL is his best option
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote:Quarterback D.J. Shockley, who was recently waived by the Falcons, will take part in the Omaha Nighthawks minicamp, which opens on Friday. Shockley, the former Georgia and North Clayton High standout, was waived by the Falcons on July 9. Shockley, a seventh-round pick of the Falcons in 2006, never played a regular-season game for the team.

It looks like the Omaha market will be the best in the league. Will be interesting to see if the league though survives beyond this season.
