I was wondering if this would ever come to Omaha. It's a great display but it doesn't come without controversy.

As long as they don't apply for a liquor license, they should be okay. :;):

Seriously though, nice to see something out of the norm around here.

Whoa! How intriguing. I will try to go to this.

I thought there was something very similar to this here two years ago?

It's the perpetually empty retail/restaurant space on the first floor of the condo building. Immediately north of Spencer's (the old Nick & Tony's) and immediately west of Farrel's Deli.

Check Google street view.

I saw a similar exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. It was a different outfit (the original plastinated body exhibit, I believe) from Germany: http://www.bodyworlds.com/en/pages/home.asp. It was pretty cool and I would consider seeing something similar again.

We saw this up in Minneapolis... and it apparently made such an impression on my oldest son... he's now in pre med.

One month progression fetuses will get the Carhart haters pumped up.

Here's my thing...where do they get their bodies? Donating your body to science is one thing, but who writes their will as saying "I'm going to donate my body to art!"?

Q: Where do the full body specimens come from?

A: The full body specimens are persons who lived in China and died from natural causes. After the bodies were unclaimed at death, pursuant to Chinese law, they were ultimately delivered to a medical school for education and research. Where known, information about the identities, medical histories and causes of death is kept strictly confidential.

Hmmm...seems a bit sketchy, to me.

Like I said, I'm not against the exhibit per se, it is intriguing on one level. But that bit of info makes it even less likely I'll go see it.

The fact that they display real bodies would be the only reason why I'd consider going. Creepy, but definitely interesting.

I went to this a couple of weeks ago. really pretty interesting. If you are at all intrigued by the though of seeing this go now before it possible wraps up it's stay. had my 16 and 10 year old with and they loved it too. You can find a discount code on line and buy your tickets on line and save 20% over the cost at the door. Rent one of the recorded info devices at the door for an added $5. One for two people is enough. One can use it and then the other while the alternate person is looking at stuff that has now audio accompanying it.

Spent a little time talking to one of the employees that was working there as a summer / school time job. He was part way through college. He said that the people through the door was measurable larger than what the production company ever thought it would be. He also said that the out of town management group had missed a bit and though the CWS was DT already this last June! Missed that by a year but the uptick in traffic was good anyway I was told.

He seemed to think that there was a good chance that the stay would get extended or possibly another of the traveling exhibits that the same company manages could be moved in after this was vacated. Never got what other exhibits this company has, and haven't looked. It was implies that the company had the lease on this space for quite a while yet and would probably not be letting it go and most likl renewing.

All this lends well for more of this type of thing to come to Omaha. This was a great get and sould like it has been a huge success and that will only lead to more.
