Photo Update/Stadium Tour 11-04-2010

We were really limited on where we could go so I didn't get all the shots I wanted, but it was still awesome just being in there!

1. Pano from behind home plate in the Concourse

2. Pano from the first base dugout.

4. Heading down the ramp to the first base dugout.

5. First Base Dugout from the first base camera well

6. First Base Dugout

7. Top floor above the suite level from left to right. The first section is the audio visual area for the scoreboard/sound system, the second section will be two broadcast booths, the next section will be the ESPN broadcast booths, final section with the windows is the press box.

Wow. Incredible shots, Brad. I love how the two RFP towers, the Kerrey Bridge, and the Qwest Center are so prominent in the view!

Boy, I really love the Kerry Bridge and RFP hanging out over there in left field. Makes me wish we would have had a couple more on the CB side or even the Omaha side.

What a terrific looking facility. I agree with Poppe, it really seems a lot bigger than I anticipated. Even though I haven't been inside of it, simply driving by it creates quite the imposing impact from Abbot Drive.

Couple things to point out...

1. Look at the View when you walk in the front entrance. You can see the Qwest Center.

2. This is my guess of how much smaller Rosenblatt concourses are.

WOW! Great pics, as always Brad. I can't wait to go to a game there. The backdrop of the riverfront, Kerry bridge, Qwest center, & Skyline is going to be a great marketing tool for Omaha during the CWS. Overall, I'm very impressed with the new stadium design, even despite the brick choice.

The Road to Omaha statue is going in the semi-circle. Couldn't tell you why though.

Really AWESOME! That's going to be great shot when the park is complete. I love that the RiverFront tower is in the foreground which really adds a sense of dimension to the overall photo. I just wish the Woodmen tower was a bit further east or west but you can't have everything.

I can't remember where I saw this, but wasn't the video board supposed to go up in November? If so, they're certainly falling behind, as nothing is there yet... Anyone know what's going on?

On the rumor front (and possibly related to the above delays), I've heard from several independent people (all with commercial construction contacts) that they've identified major issues with one of the concrete footings that make up the main stadium foundation. Not sure why this wasn't identified/corrected when they first poured it - did a crack just surface? This could mean big issues and delays though, as I'm sure this isn't something easy to correct with an entire stadium built ontop of that footing now....

According to the report, work was begun on installing the scoreboard, but that actual board wont's go up until late this month:

Haha. I will try to get one over the weekend. I was in a hurry and there was a bunch of construction traffic and convention traffic.

MECA released a new update report.

One thing I noticed is that some of the railing in the ballpark looks almost just like the ped bridge's railing.

Thanks for the update. Its amazing to think we will probably just get one more of these and then it will be finished. Hopefully, there is some kind of weekend Open House for this stadium as there was for Werner Park. I missed the one for the Qwest Center and it would be really nice to see some of the other areas that you wouldn't normally have access to. In either case, it looks like we will all have our first chance to see it 04/19/11 which I believe is a CU/NU game....can't wait.
