Omaha Restaurant Week

Post by skinzfan23 »

I think that this a great idea to get out and try some new things at different establishments.

From the World Herald:
In the lull of back-to-school September and the dead of post-Valentine's Day winter, many of America's liveliest food cities host “restaurant weeks” to encourage diners to get out of the house and try something new.

The coordinated events entice customers with a deal (often a few courses for a fixed price at a host of new and old restaurants) and a deadline (one week only). And they help restaurants keep momentum through what might otherwise be the cruelest months.

If all goes according to plan, the first-ever Omaha Restaurant Week will be Sept. 16 to 25, and 40 restaurants from Omaha and the suburbs will offer
three-course dinners for $19 or $29 during that 10-day spread.

They have this in Denver - 5280 week. 3 course Dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine at Piatti for $52.80. It was a selective menu and it seemed to have smaller portions - but it was good food.

I have always wondered why Omaha did not have this. We have taken advantage of it in Toronto and New York City. Kansas City just had theirs.

Omaha Restaurant Week returns for first time since COVID pandemic

It wasn’t long ago the owner of Herbe Sainte had to get creative to draw in business during the pandemic. “It was a prolonged year and a half, almost two years, of really difficult sales and just trying to get people comfortable with coming back out,” said Justin Halbert. In 2021, when Visit Omaha put out feelers to see if places were ready to bring back Restaurant Week most owners weren’t. “We got a lot of no’s,” said Erin O’Brien with Visit Omaha. “A few are undecided. A couple of yeses, we thought we’ve got to wait.”

Omaha Restaurant Week
September 15-24, 2023 - Omaha’s 10 Tastiest Days

Sure, Omaha is known for legendary beef - steak, burgers, and the classic Reuben sandwich, to name a few fan favorites. But the city is growing into a top destination for every culinary-curious diner. During Omaha’s 10 Tastiest Days of the year, enjoy 3-course dinners priced at $30, $40 or $50 per person at some of the Omaha area’s best restaurants. Plus, you’re dining out for a cause – a portion of Restaurant Week proceeds benefits Food Bank for the Heartland.

I read that there are 34 restaurants participating. Some of them still have not posted their restaurant week menus, which seems dumber than dirt.

Looking back at the list of participating restaurants from 2013 I counted about 21 places that have disappeared into the restaurant archives, and about 28 that still exist (though ownership may have changed).
