is it just me or does it appear all the holes in the wall would probably be used to place plaques of some sort. Had they wanted to put brick or something else it would have more than likely been done before the statue was put into place... Based on the actual picture, it appears there are lights that will highlight the taller circular wall...

CWS makes seat assignments

Matt Wynn WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:College World Series season ticketholders may want to check their mailbox.
Packets telling them where to sit during TD Ameritrade's inaugural CWS were mailed out late Thursday.
By Friday morning, the puzzled calls had already started rolling in, with people asking questions about their new seats.
“We wanted to keep people as close as possible with where they were in Rosenblatt, even though it's a completely different stadium,” said Kathryn Morrissey, executive vice president of CWS Omaha Inc.

I was wondering what, if anything, Omaha Metro was doing to prepare for and accommodate visitors and natives for the CWS. So I checked out their website... and saw nothing.
Then, I checked the new TD Ameritrade Park website and saw they had a "Directions and Parking" section. I clicked it, and wouldn't you know? No mention of bus or any alternative means of getting to the stadium other than showing where the parking lots and garages are. It's obvious that MECA has an interest in parking revenue.
Anyway, with how much more in Omaha's core the event now is, it really opens up opportunities for Omaha Metro to partner with MECA to provide excellent transit connections during the event.

Metro has always provided a park & ride express type of route for the CWS. I would assume they will do it again... Although, nearly every bus route in Omaha serves downtown, so maybe there won't be any special routes, but possibly a circulator to connect the Downtown core to TDAP? Anyway, if they provide special service or not, Metro would be dumb not to advertise their bus system as an alternative to see a game. I bet there will be some kind of advertising or special information on Metro's home page about the CWS in the month leading up to the CWS.

Metro is providing shuttles just as they have done in years past. I don't know for sure, but i assume most of the park and ride locations will be the same as year's past. The bus loading/unloading zone will be on 13th St directly west of the stadium.
In addition, metro will have circulator buses (natural gas) that will run every 10 minutes from 2hr prior to 2hr after the first/last games. The route will be a Cuming-10th- Jackson-16th loop.
There will also be a designated bike parking area somewhere around the stadium, but not sure where exactly.

The Sunday World Herald story on the costs of the Ball parks is really poorly done.
They combined the cost of the two stadiums $180 million with a total cost overruns of $14 million.
Sure they break it down later that the $128,000 TD stadium is only $3 million over which is nothing considering the sales of suites and club seating already exceed that number.
Sarpy county is $11 Million over on a $26 million stadium. Lumping the two together was in insult to those building the TD stadium.
TD-park is over budget by less then 1/2 of 1 percent while Sarpy is over by almost 30%.
Anyway, it upsets me off that lump the two together.

Walked by the stadium on Saturday. Men were working, some gates were open, so my wife and I took a "tour".
All's I can say is WOW. Absolutely beautiful. Field is green, big screen is huge, vendor area is spacious and you
can see the field when you are in line.
Only thought I had was the street between the stadium and Goodnights pizza. I wonder if they will close that on
game days. When you come out of the stadium there is nothing more than a standard sidewalk. Seems like that
will become a bottleneck pretty quickly.

They had a donors party at the stadium last night, so that might be where the fireworks were.

I could see them from my window off of 47th and Davenport and it looked like from the stadium, but I wasn't sure why. The donor party makes sense though thanks!

Is alcohol available at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha?
Yes for Creighton home games, to those with valid ID's and proof of being age 21 or older. Miller and Coors products are available. Alcohol will not be sold during the Men's College World Series.

I really love that first pic....I think you are the first one to post a picture of the skyline behind the stadium. I don't know if the World-Herald was waiting to show this view or what, but I think it will be one of the best views in the ballpark, especially on national tv 10 days a year!

Look at the two little boards and the way everything is set up... I guarantee there will be ribbon some day. May be not this season, but soon. Also, the adds where the ribbon would be were not up at 3, but there at 6. It could happen sooner.

Hmm suprised to see Schlegel in pic 4. I didn't think he knew Creighton had a baseball team. I guess the new stadium is already bringing people out who refused to step foot into the complex.

Went to the open house last night and am really glad we did. The stadium itself lives up to and exceeds all expectations but it was really nice to have the chance to see the stuff that most people won't ordinarily get to see during a game. The media and broadcast rooms, suites, lounges, club house, batting tunnels, dugouts are really impressive. People will fall in love with this place.

Glad to see this huge waste of taxpayer dollars in its final form. Now "Fahey's Folly" can start its journey to failure... This place doesn't hold a candle to Rosenblatt and the series will become bland and characterless because of it.

I'm not blasting fan support, I am blasting the outgoing president who would not walk across the street to watch the baseball team play when he could have even sat inside at the pavilion. This is the same president who would also tell baseball donors to give their money to soccer instead of help improving the complex or getting their own field.Big E wrote:Weird. I only wish the game tonight wasn't going to be FREEZING dang cold. might make the new place a little less enjoyable. The sneakpeek was nice, except the security wasn't sure where we were allowed to go so you got different answers depending upon where you went and when.

CP Jay always rails against the administration for its support (or, in his view, a lack thereof) of baseball. But whatever.
You were arguing that no one cared about Creighton basketball prior to Kyle Korver and the Qwest Center (at least I think you limited it to basketball, but for the sake of argument, maybe you meant to include the entire university as a whole).
But I can see how those seem like similar issues on a thread about a new stadium...actually, no I can't.

I just posted a bunch more photo in the photo forum. What I figured out with security last night, if you ask one and didn't like the answer, go ask the next one until you get the answer you want. I figured out in the end that basically everything but the CU locker room and the club lounge was open, and I even heard that the club lounge was going to be open after 7pm, but I was gone by then.cdub wrote:The sneakpeek was nice, except the security wasn't sure where we were allowed to go so you got different answers depending upon where you went and when.
