When I was at work this AM a city guy told me they were targeting putting those in at 2:00 PM today.

there were more dump trucks going to and from the waste treatment plant than you could ever image. Omaha , Douglas Co, and Sarpy Co trucks.

The OWH story today says that the riverfront is likely going to be closed off for SIX MONTHS!

Uh oh. Dakota Dunes is a pretty wealthy area with expensive homes on it. Hope everyone has flood insurance.

With warmer weather coming to the mountains, plus a cooler than usual May, the runoff is going to be bigger than usual. There are already flood warnings out for the Big Thompson. Once all this North Platte river hits the Missouri - expect a back up for some time.

Does anyone know just how high can those floating boat stalls go before they are flooded?

Funny thing this morning on the news Ameristar said they didn't have anything flooding... Must be one of those PR things, "Everything is Fine" nothing to see here.

They probably don't want anyone to see flooding as an excuse to not go there, or worse to go to their competitors.

If you look out the north side of the parking structure, you'll see that the entire north parking lot is under water.

The casino is normal, except that the ramp to enter now leads to the lowest level of the casino, instead of the middle one.

This is going to go for months -- it snowed this weekend in Wyoming

The Memorial Day Weekend storm is finally exiting the region. Not only did it put a damper on the weekend, it gave significant snow fall in the mountains. Anywhere from 8-16" of snow fell in the higher terrain of the Big Horns and Wind River Mountains. The Lander area and Riverton were not immune to snowfall either...they both saw around 6" of snow. Casper Mountain saw 2-4" of snow.

With this project being so close to the river, what is are they doing about potential flooding, with the river running so high? Any preparations yet? Technically, I believe this is on the wet side of the Omaha levee...

If I'm reading the Army Corp of Engineers maps correctly, with the expected 150,000 fps flow that we're expecting by middle of June, this site should be getting 2+ feet of water. That would put the garage a couple of feet under water, and would severely hamper access.

RFP is next door to Gallup, which is built on a 500yr flood plain. If you take a look at the photos I posted in this thread: http://eomahaforums.com/phpBB/viewtopic ... 4&start=60 , while not directly of the base of RFP, other views show there is plenty of room before RFP is 2ft under water. The first photo is a good example where there are several feet of river rise needed to even begin flooding the lowest parts of the bike path.

I never realized the building there was so low. I just Looked at elevations.

Rick's 994'
The Landing next to Rick's 984'
National Parks Building 992'
Ped Bridge Fountain 992'
RFP One 992'
RFP Two 986'
Gallup 992'

I am guessing its just like the parking garage at Ameristar... Leave it unfinished, Let it flood, and hose it out later.

City Crews Called For Boat Rescue Mission
Owners Wait As Boats Are Retrieved From Flooded Marina

KETV wrote:Dozens of boats are being taken to higher ground as the river has its way with the marina. "The docks are actually coming apart and floating into each other,"

Ships now in floodwaters' path
Nancy Gaarder of the Omaha World Herald wrote:The rising Missouri River has taken aim at another target -- two former Navy ships now on display at Omaha’s Freedom Park. “The boats are large, so it would take considerable water to float them,” she said. “They can float, we just don’t want them to float away.”

It's a good thing Freedom Park was smart and moved the Hazard and Marlin up on the banks. Had they left them in the water we probably would have seen another U.S.S Inaugural situation.

here is a link to the Army Corps of Engineers map I was referencing http://www.nwo.usace.army.mil/html/op-e ... age_03.jpg This shows the expected flooding once they ramp the gavins point release up to full bore (150,000 fps). There will be some major flooding around the area, including the 2+ feet that I was referring to at RFP. This is expected to be 100 yr+ flooding....

Another major concern, and I'm surprised the OWH hasn't done a piece on this yet, is Eppley. If you look at the map that shows the airfield, they're expected to get some major flooding as well, even with the levees and pumps they have in place. It may be a struggle to keep the place open....

Only time will tell... Within 2 weeks they should have the release going full force.

Would be interesting to see if the flooding closes the airport seeing as how the worst of the flooding should starting hitting about the time the CWS gets going.

Thanks for the link! So the hatched area denotes areas protected by levees, however it still shows places like the fuel depot under a couple feet of water and even the north side of Gallup under 4-6ft water, despite the hatched "levee zone". What's the scoop!? I'm definitely not an engineer, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but given that map I'd expect a lot more sandbags and preparation happening. Am I reading this wrong?

Only map you ever need of Council Bluffs. Look for 2' contours in the "Map Layers" area.

I have a friend who lives around 34th Ave B - ish. I was wondering if her packing up and getting ready to leave was an overreaction.

I made mention of the Army Corps of Engineers inundation maps over in another thread, but it probably deserves a mention here. As you'll see from the maps at the attached link, they're expecting some pretty serious flooding when the river gets going at full release from Gavin's Point, which should unfortunately coincide with the timing of the CWS... And to complicate matters, it'll be about a full month at 150,000 fps release, if not longer, based on the weather...

Keeping in mind... to this point... we haven't seen HALF of that 150,000 cfm total. The 70,000 cfm we hit recently broke a record for the release rate by Gavins Point. This is totally uncharted territory since the city levee was built in the 50's.

Do they have a map that is more centered on council bluffs? I tried finding one but can't. I just wanna see if I'm gonna be under 0' of water...or 6'.
