This morning on the today show they featured a house for sale from Omaha in the real estate segment. I don't remember what neighborhood but it was definitely in the eastern area of the city judging by the looks.

That is the new addition to the Denver Art Museum, the Frederic C Hamilton Building designed by Daniel Libeskind opened around 2006. The photo is taken near the intersection of Bannock and 13th Streets looking East. The skywalk connects the new addition with has the cantilever to the original museum. I used to live Downtown Denver and visit fairly frequently. It does look similar to the 10th Street view of the Qwest Center

There is no way 22 floors or 9ines get built in the past few years without the Slowdown and Film Streams investment first. I do think the $100 million is some funny math, but it is not off base about the impact an art house theater and a concert venue have had on the city. More than anyone expected when they first broke ground.

OK I re-read your post, and I take back my insult. You were suggesting I give it a try. That's fair. I do agree that there is a burgeouning Indie music scene and cultural upswelling in the area. Slowdown and this theater are definitely a part of that.

That's what I get for replying to a post after having just written to StreetsOfOmaha... gets my dander up.

I wasn't saying nonsense. The movie I am planning on seeing at Film Streams next is Cedar Rapids starring Ed Helms and John C. Reilly. Not exactly high brow stuff, but in reality just because you don't have a desire to see anything there doesn't mean it isn't sophisticated that isn't nonsense it is reality that the movies that play there will make a person think more than a movie you can see at Rave or AMC. And it is kind of funny b/c the whole point of the article is that a measly 2 screen movie theater and modest sized concert venue have been some of the main driving forces in a culture shift that is happening in Omaha.

And of course TD is helping development, but other than the "Bluestone Block" for a lack of a better name the north downtown development has been hotels and parking lots. The people living in these buildings aren't there for the two weeks of baseball. They are there to be a part of something Omaha has never had before. And that is a place that actually draws young professionals to the city instead of them leaving for more fun and exciting parts of the country.

Don't accept the impact it has had if you don't want to I guess.

The weather channel was just live from Council Bluffs on the river and were talking about the storm in Omaha. They had the skyline as a back drop. They also showed some pictures taken from residents and one was an impressive wall cloud over TDAmeritrade.

Shelf Cloud, BIG difference! They both look impressive, but one you watch and one your run. Shelf clouds are generally several miles wide like tonight. Wall clouds are usually less than a mile or two wide.
