Yes, Its a Mom and Pop Joint not a chain. The Owner is on. They showed AK in the summer. He did good in the first round.

We're very fortunate it didn't happen that way. A/V is a much more interesting place with educational, commercial, office, retail, and residential all mixed-in together, rather than an extension of a typical college campus. If I we're a student, I'd much prefer A/V the way it's developing now.....a beacon of hope for future development in Omaha.

The main UNO campus is actually pretty spread out, the result of years of expansion west into the Fair Acres mansion neighborhood south of Dodge. Only over the last 10-15 years has the density increased such that it's mostly filled-in.

It is probably a static installation, but I think it should be a functioning wind turbine. Sure it wouldn't even be close to the most efficient design...but that's okay because it's also artwork.

I drove by the sculpture recently. I like it. It's rather big, but it looks really good up close in my opinion.

They are pushing dirt around in the lot between Pinhook and Boadmoor, I would assume for more residences. I also noticed the retail bay in the Pinhook building furthers north has been leased, no activity inside yet though. They were also laying out the frame work to run Shirley St. through next to the new dorms.

I really want to like Aksarben Cinema, but they need to figure out how to work their projectors. Today is the 3rd time this summer that I have been at a movie there that was delayed because of technical difficulties. Either I have terrible luck or they need to do things better.

More great development for the Aksarben site, but with traffic already a royal pain in the area, how much worse will this make it? Whoever designed the cutesy, park-like single-lane boulevard entering off Center Street ought to be waylaid. Cars are frequently backed up into Center, made even worse when any event is ongoing.

I would say it is a park like boulevard because it is at a park...this is a pedestrian geared development not a car centric one. Aksarben Drive is not meant to be used as a race track like most of the other roads in the city you spend maybe an extra 30 seconds waiting at this intersection, not that big of a deal. A 4 lane road with a turn lane would have been a major negative to this entire development. They did it the right way.

Well I'm afraid I have to disagree. This is not about being car-centric or pedestrian-friendly. This is becoming a busy traffic area, with Blue Cross, FDR, and UNO having large business centers there, plus the theater and other shops. Throw in a bunch of apartments, and you NEED a smooth traffic flow. Whether you think people should be driving or not (not any of your damned business, by the way), all those FDR and Blue Cross employees work for a living, and most drive cars.

That's not what we have now. It isn't about "spending an extra 30 seconds," which is to brush off my issue. As I wrote, this is backing up traffic on Center Street, which is a major thoroughfare.

I really think it was intentional. They wanted this to feel like a downtown area, and that does not include busy, 4-lane roads.

And there are lots of ways to get to Aksarben Village. Not everyone has to turn in from Center. Pine, Mercy, Shirley, and N 67th St all offer greats ways in/out of Aksarben Village and were not backed up even with the heavy traffic there this weekend.

That open green space near Pinhook will soon be torn up for their expansion, as well. Should be quite a number of people living in the area in the next few years.

There should be a lot more activity here now that the students are starting to move in.

Also apparently the movie theater is very very against future festivals being held at AV. I guess you can hear everything from the stage inside of the theaters on the south side of the building.
