There are a lot of folks that dont think it fits the look of the old market. Not sure I agree exactly but thats why they went away.

Yeah. Disappointing though I thought the balconies looked good.

Hmm...in lieu of the balconies a green roof top deck would be a nice surrogate.

Can you imagine how awesome sitting on a balcony, over looking the old market, would be on a nice warm evening.

I don't think that the rents they are asking are very high. The cost of their materials + land justify the cost, and many Yuppies and Dinks can easily afford $850/month for a one- bedroom place. I think you may be underestimating just how high prices have become; I actually think the prices sound quite reasonable for the location.

Man, we pay $950 for a 1 bedroom in Albany's premier neighborhood... and it pales in comparison to the Old Market. Truly, Omahans are very spoiled when it comes to cost of living and the quality of life one can get for the money.

I spoke with the developer. Both Little King and Maggie Moos will be back. The main restaurant will be a nice seafood restaurant (I can't remember if it was a chain or local).

Rumor is a successful local company starting an oyster bar/fresh seafood restaurant.

Wow, it's really coming along. Eric Wieseler is really making a mark in the Old Market, with this brand new building and the rehab of the building across the street to the north (the apartment above Wheatfields, I can't remember the name). Young guy too, only 30 years old, and already doing this great stuff.

My daughter & I ate at House of Lee the other day. I love what they're there on 12th & Howard, but I have to wonder about parking.

There has been no mention of additional parking, despite new apartments & a new hotel. And downtown/Old Market parking is already pretty rough. Are there going to be parking garages?

Am I missing something? I hope!

Excellent! Will it be open to the public (for a price, I assume)?
