So maybe they are considering the curve of the roof as the "compliment".

Oh god I used to work with the guy who's Youtube account that video is posted to... ever since the Occupy Wallstreet fad came for the hipsters he has been bat schizz crazy trying to get literally anyone he knew to come down to the protests. When confronted with questions as to why anyone would want to come to these protests he smeared my name to all my friends saying that I'm a retard etc. He is one of the craziest people I have ever met in my life and if this is who DTO is running around with its only a matter of time before they get put in the looney bin.MTO wrote:MTO wrote:DTO wishes he was a black panther.... In a few places, Qwest is now CentLink and the Northern Natural Gas building is now residential and called The Wire. I went to submit changes but blew it off when it tried making me sing up.

And if you guys are correct which I'm sure you are the Marriott will stand aboot 53 meter putting it about the height of the Hill Hotel. Kind of makes me wish we will be surprised and find out its taller. At least taller than the Westbrook would be great.

I believe the NNG building is now 'The Highline.' The white building next to the brown scar on the face of Omaha is going to be called The Wire.MTO wrote:In a few places, Qwest is now CentLink and the Northern Natural Gas building is now residential and called The Wire. Any clue how one would create models for the buildings on that website that are without models? I tried to find out how most models on that website are made but never figured out. I have spent way to many hours on Skyscraperpage looking at their models and would like to keep the Omaha page up to date.

I don't remember when I saw it, but I remember seeing this would be a 3 1/2 star diamond or whatever. The Hilton and Hotel Deco are our only 4s right now.MTO wrote:So how do Marriotts rank against Hiltons, are they five diamond?

If there is a difference then both but I'm getting the impression Marriott doesn't have escorts on staff just on call.

In most cities Marriotts and Hiltons are equivalent in terms of quality and price. In the 3.5 star/diamond area. JW Marriotts are higher. They are mostly business class hotels.

And for what little it is worth, I have met both Streets and DTO, and found them both to be passionate about their causes. (Plus DTO is a wonderful photographer. I hired him for my wedding). Whether I agree or disagree with them on any particular issue is really not of concern to me. I enjoyed the intellectual give and take we have had. They are both young, and with youth comes a high level of passion and a relative inability to put things into perspective. The good tends to be the enemy of the perfect. In time I suspect they will both mellow, like a boldly flavored young wine will grow smoother and more balanced if given the opportunity. I wish them each well.

I think the first one is just kind of to find out what the proposal is, the second time for the public to comment if they want and the third to vote on it. I am completely guessing though, someone might know better. Cdub?MadMartin8 wrote:Why is that? Sorry guys but I have another question, will they have to "charge" pile dirt for compression purposes on this site or was that not necessary from the parking-lot?

Thats a good question, it sounds like they might be removing a lot of earth for the parking so maybe not?MTO wrote:Sorry guys but I have another question, will they have to "charge" pile dirt for compression purposes on this site or was that not necessary from the parking-lot?

Exactly. For any substantial building in that area, driven piles or drilled piers will likely be necessary for foundations. Sample drilling will help determine the type of footings needed. The depth Bedrock is typically about 40' down in that area. Surcharges are usually used for low-rise buildings utilizing relatively shallow spread footings or where significant fill is brought in.Brad wrote:Depends what they found when they drilled those soil samples.MTO wrote:Sorry guys but I have another question, will they have to "charge" pile dirt for compression purposes on this site or was that not necessary from the parking-lot?
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.
...and then they were gone.
