At the risk of sounding gauche, but what does that mean?

The purpose of this request is to replat the parcel into a legal lot, which is planned to be developed "commercially" .

Oh. Well why didn't they just say that?

Commercially as in office space or retail?

A "smaller" building is going to be built south east of 10th and capital, it's in the renderings and plan previously posted.

I know the plans are apartment there hopefully with retail space as it sits at the arena front door. We wont see site plans until there is a TIF request. This sounds like the first step for a project in the pipeline.

Its only the name of the plat, so doesnt really matter. I have to assume they know that the name already exists on a relatively nearby project.

I always thought it was cool when they held it under the viaduct or on Howard Street. I suppose the probably need more space every year though.

I think that will be a neat location with the interstate in the background.

It's going to be difficult next year with all the construction going on.

I'm sure the designers won't mind the mud

So, I haven't been paying attention, this project is pretty much a go-ahead? Not Wall St Tower "go-ahead", but a legitimate green light?

I don't see why with the weight of MECA behind it and with the CWS creating a huge demand for it that as long as it gets approved by the City Council that this project will fail. Plus its not just condo's which are hard to sell people on if you can't build the building first and will be anchored by a major hotel.. So I don't see why it wouldn't be a home run 8)

True, very true. Plus the economy is in better condition than 2008, plus it's not weird looking, being cut in half and whatnot.

From what I remember, two main hurdles were 1). getting an anchor for the hotel (which they got through Marriott) and 2). getting TIF approval. I'm not sure if there are other financial issues that could still hold this back.

WST was approved for TIf for what its worth, it doesn't guarantee anything. I think this gets built, I will wait to party until the shovel turns though.

In addition to this party, we need to have one the day the redevelopment for Crossroads gets going.

Absolutely. Remember how Channel 7 used a graphic for their weather forecast with the WST photoshopped in next to the UP building? They must have used that for 5 years. Lets wait until a building or buildings start rising from the ground before we throw our party. But you can count me in when that happens.
