I couldn't believe how many Charges were called Blocking Fouls against Creighton in this game. 1/3 of the people left a halftime (to watch NU?)

I couldn't believe this either since some were VERY obvious and not a bang bang play that got called incorrectly. Anyways.. Creighton's roughest game of the year so far but still not a terrible game. Brooks is developing into quite the player and could be causing starter controversy with Chatman soon.. although Chatman did have a few beautiful drop back 3's today. All around I'm happy that the team looks focused so far and has a few young players stepping up and making an impact early in the season. 8)

Chatman 7-9 (career high 19 pts) 4-5 3 pt 9 ast.- so what did Brooks do to challenge his playing time? 3pts? 1-4 ft?

This was his worst game of the season.. obviously he has to pay his dues on the bench.. I get that. Brooks's control of the ball in tight spaces is what has me excited. In my opinion I always thought Chatman struggled dribbling in the paint but has been great at feeding the ball to others. But what frustrates me is when we play good teams where all 5 players have to be playing at a high level a lot of times Chatman flies into the paint losing control of the ball and giving up free chances to the other team. I really like both players for sure but Brooks seems to have more raw talent.

No doubt about that, but when 1 and 5 are on the floor together, now that is fun to watch...Artino also had a great game I thought.
The beginning of the second half looked good, otherwise the Jays didn't look like they knew what they were running.

Yeah today seemed like the team was confused about what to do a bunch. I have noticed that they are playing a lot of new players searching for someone to fill Echinique's vacancy so perhaps today was a growing pains game?

They have been playing a 10 man rotation, except against (St Joe?) when only 8 had good playing time. It seems when they have tough post players they double down, so player rotations are till being felt out. Once Coach figures this out I expect an 8 man rotation again.

The "charging" fouls are going to be called that way all season. It has been the same way at the Husker games, and if you want to be honest it is going both ways. There is a rule change or rule interpretation change that is in place this year to help the offense The few games I have seen on TV have been the same way. If you have listened to any play by play on TV or radio there has been plenty of talk and it will take some getting used to..
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

I would have liked to see the replays, but there were at least 3 plays where the CU player got to his spot 3 steps before an opponent ran him over. I don't know how they could change a rule and say an offensive player has to be unimpeded when he dives for a basket. this is going to be a long season.

Impressive game from the Jays Tonight.. My man Brooks had a break out game scoring 23 pts! The best part of this game was that Arizona St is a good Basketball team and was also undefeated. So for the Jays to stomp them pretty hard tonight is quite impressive with a lot of players doing a lot of good things.

I still feel like we're missing the presence of Echinique on Defense but rebounds have been a bright spot for the team so far this year. 8)

A great start really helped Creighton tonight, just when ASU starting to get close the Jays went on nice runs, but man, I agree, the ESPN announcers almost talked more about Brooks than they did about Dougie. 9-11, 4-4 3pt. and he blew by people on the way to the basket. Great defense also from the team! Nice to see a lot of Blue on an away Thanksgiving night game. Would love to see a matchup with Marquette in The Pond! But they have to get past a very athletic SDS tomorrow night.

I have to say with the addition of Brooks if the Jays can continue getting better I think they are going to be scary good this year.

What a great game, by far the best the Jays have played this year. I actually think offensively Creighton is better without Gregory Echenique. Devin Brooks is exactly the player that the Jays have needed for years. Someone that can dribble, penetrate, and finish. I was pretty amazed that they handled Arizona St as easily as they did. We are going to need an equally strong effort tonight to win against San Diego St. Proud to be a Jays fan though!

Agree 100%! The main reason I talk about defense is later in the year/in the Tournament defense plays a significant role and its not as easy to just out score teams in that situation. But all things considered I think this will be one of the best chances for the Jays to go far into the tournament this year. 8)

So far Brooks is a fantastic addition to the team! Can't wait to see more of him as we go through the year.

What a tough loss for the Jays. Lost 80-86 to San Diego St. The officiating was terrible, especially in the last 2-3 min of the game. Creighton had a great comeback. They were down 19 at one point. McDermott finished with 30 pts.

CU had its first FT attempt of the second half at the 3:08 mark, while SDS already had 14 attempts. Two shots at the :27 mark should have been called. -20 in FT for the game...

The officiating was absolutely wretched...but it was basically a home game for SDSU.

Still, probably not a "bad" RPI killing loss. Need to bounce back versus LBSU.

Absolutely terrible game for Creighton. Lost 53-60 to George Washington. Doug McDermott had one of, if not the worst game of his Creighton career. Only 7 pts on 2-12 shooting. Not going to get it done.

Hope they don't have the same result. Soccer was ranked #1 with a lot of promise and had a terrible finish. Creighton has Long Beach St on Tuesday. Long Beach is currently 1-7, Creighton better win that one.

At least at this point, the teams they have lost to (San Diego St and George Washington) have a combined record of 10-2. But I agree, they need to learn from the losses. These long, athletic teams seem to always kill Creighton. Hopefully that changes next season with some of the recruits we have.

Second long athletic team that CU struggled against this year. Guess what the Big East is full of...teams that are long and athletic.

Bingo. This needs to be fixed, but I'm not sure it can with the team we have.

With this team, ball movement is key. They haven't been moving the ball smoothly this past 2 games. You can beat those types of teams by swinging the ball and getting good shots, it just seems that they are settling for the 3 and tonight Creighton wasn't hitting that outside of Ethan Wragge.

Even then, he started, what, 0-3 or 4? SDSU looked like the better team, all around.

I'm not too worried yet.. I think what my concerns were before with losing Echinique are starting to become obvious when watching Creighton play better teams. Artino maybe be big but he looks lost when trying to defend the basket and I think more than other years this year Creighton will have to outscore other teams rather than out muscling them.

Another thing to consider is that Creighton was playing once a week for most of the early part of the season and had yet to play in back to back days. I still think things will be good this year and its pretty obvious that the team is trying to learn how to play with each other again.

Big game for the Jays tonight. They have fallen out of both polls as expected and now face a struggling Long Beach St team that is only 1-7 to start the season. Creighton needs to come out strong tonight, get a big lead and rest the starters some. This should be an easy win for them, but the way they have played the past two games has me a little worried that they are going into on of their slumps they have endured during the past two years in February. Lets hope that is not the case and they win this game by 30.

Creighton won 78-61. They were up by nearly 30, but the subs gave up some of the lead. Much better performance by everyone tonight. McDermott finished with 21 and Wragge 15. Next up is the "other" program in the state on Sunday @ 6 pm.
