Haha funny.. most teams would kill to average 15k fan attendance.. We are spoiled here thats for sure.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this might be a program establishing year for Creighton? The more good teams we dismantle the better I feel about our chances in the tournament. How far does everyone else have them going in the tournament? I think a Sweet 16 if not elite 8 is very possible with this team.

Huge home loss by Georgetown to Seton Hall 57-67 which might cost them a tournament bid, with Marquette, @ (20) Creighton, (6) Villanova, and (4) Michigan St. Coming up.

Just watched the end of the game too Coyote.. Turns out Seton Hall isn't as bad as we thought when we played them!! Also looks like the early predictions of Georgetown being the team to beat might not be true at all.

Yeah, a little off I would say (RPI scouting had them winning 80-68 too):
1. Marquette (74 points, 5 first-place votes)
2. Georgetown (70 points, 2 first-place votes)
3. Creighton (61 points, 1 first-place vote)
4. Villanova, 58 points
5. St. John's, 56 points (2 first-place votes)
6. Providence, 41 points
7. Xavier, 38 points
8. Seton Hall, 20 points
9. Butler, 19 points
10. DePaul, 13 points

And now Butler beats Marquette in OT...

I just realized that I have watched more non Creighton Big East games this season than non Creighton Mo Valley games in the past 35 years, granted more Big East games are televised...

I too have been glued to the new Big East games.. With FS1 being the home channel for the Big East its very convienent not to mention that I think the announcers are really good on FS1 as well.

Absolutely embrassing game tonight.. Can't beat the refs and Providence at once.. Some of the worst foul calls I have ever seen. :grr:

I was thinking the same thing at first, but on the replay you can see Doug shoving the other guy before he was fouled.

Jays played terrible on defense and couldn't rebound tonight. Got killed on the boards in the first half especially. Not going to get it done if we want to go far this year. Funny how McDermott played a bad game and still finished with 21 pts and 7 rebs. Hopefully they pick it up and come out with a lot more energy on Monday at Villanova.

The one crazy stat I see from the game is that Providence came in as the #1 free throw shooting team in the nation and they only finished at 72%. Creighton finished at 92%. Granted, they made 18 to our 12. 10 game winning streak is over. I wonder if the Jays will remain in the top 25.

Yeah, you saw the tail end of it on the replay, Doug clearly pushed off way before the over the back.

Don't have the stats, but I don't know how few offensive rebounds we got, except for put backs.
Wragge was 2 for 8 on threes? While Providence probably set school records on threes.
They never looked like they had offensive sets on too many possessions.

I am glad they rested players at the 4 minute mark, need them Monday.

It looks like Providence only shot 7-20 for 3's but it sure felt like a lot more than that. I think everyone they missed was rebounded and put back for an easy 2.

It's true that Providence laid a beat down on us and probably played their best game of the year so far.. But if we end up beating Villanova no one will care that we lost to Providence. I'm more upset that even with how good we have looked this year if we play like this in the tournament we wont make it past the first round.

We weren't going to run the table in conference. We played awful, but if I took one positive from this game it is that Providence players and fans were absolutely jacked for this game. It is a big deal to take down the Bluejays which says a lot IMO. I hope the guys come out with a new motivation level on Monday, huge game in the conference race.

I heard that Doug had the flu tonight....if that is true, he played a heck of a game. Speaking of Doug, I did some math and if he averages 21 pts per game the rest of the regular season, he should move into the top 10 all-time for scoring on the last home game of the year vs. Providence.

skinzfan23 wrote:I just left feedback on the Big East's website with the following: There is an error on the statistics of the conference. Creighton's attendance figure doesn't include the attendance from the game on 1/14/14. The correct stats should be 10 games and 175,225 for an average of 17,522. Currently it reads 10 games and 157,623 for an average of 15,762.

Lets hope they get this to update correctly. I am really proud of Jays fans and the City of Omaha for the turnout and hope it gets displayed correctly.
It is correct now. Thanks for sending that in!

Speaking of attendance, it appears the new kids are doing well in keeping the numbers up for the Big East:

1. Creighton. 17,522
2. Marquette. 14,788
3. Xavier. 9,770
4. Georgetown. 7,927
5. Butler. 7,762

Just looked at the box score from last night. Two starters that stuck out to me:
Austin Chatman: 31 mins, 2 pts, 0 reb, 1 asst, 2 fouls
Avery Dingman: 18 min, 0 pts, 1 reb, 1 asst, 3 fouls

Combined: 49 min, 2 pts, 1 reb, 2 assts, 5 fouls

That just isn't going to get it done.

Creighton is 2-25 against top 5 rated teams all-time. Tonight they play at No 4 Villanova. Could be a huge win for the program if we are able to pull it off.

I was just about to say I agree with you, and then Brooks grabbs an offensive rebound and passes out to Wragge to bury another 3. Jays up 68-45, 14 min to go. Wragge has a new career-high with 27 pts so far.

Ties Kyle Korver's 9 threes against Evansville.

Amazing win. First win vs top 5 ranked team since 1970. Jays win 96-68!!!! Great Birthday present for me. 21-35 for 3 in the game to go along with 24 assts.
